Great hike, say a lot of wildlife, moose, deer, elk. Fishing wasn't to great, but what can you expect since it's almost November.

Great day hike. Definitely not hard. I ran into many ATVs and Dirt Bikes, they all asked what I was doing so obviously there aren't too many hikers that go there. Absolutely beautiful and lots of wildlife.

Mid October hike. Only saw one other person in the trail and he was headed back from fishing. A bit of snow melting off the trees from a recent light snow fall. The fish ladder is interesting to see at the trail head and the trail just follows the river below. Took our dogs. Lots of ducks, geese and great blue heron in the river.

Beautiful early September hike. Just went up to the lower lakes. Good trail. Took our dogs. Quite a few people on the trail with us. Excited to hike up to the upper lake sometime. Gorgeous views and fall colors.

Agree with all prior reviews, with a few additions for this time of year: did this hike on 10/16, still very doable even with some minimal snow/ice in shaded areas. Quite a bit of mud once you get up higher - would recommend YakTrax or similar. Made coming back down a bit tricky - quite a few slips and oh s**t moments. Gorgeous views of snow-capped peaks from the top. One hour and 5 mins to top, coming from sea level so surely could be done quicker if you’re better acclimated. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a short but challenging hike.

this is one of my favorite hikes. Theres stunning views even just a mile or two in. My family hikes here every year. You can go inside the windcave, but be cautious, there are currents inside the cave where you can't tell how deep they are, make sure you stay out of the water as much as you can, and take a reliable headlamp.

The road to the parking lot at the top is very rough. Four-wheel drive is highly recommended. There is snow now, so i would suggest parking at the bottom and hiking the rest. Its challenging but its worth it!

Great hike! Plenty of good views and not too difficult. We didn’t see any, but watch for bears and moose as they are active in the area!

A great backpacking trail with nice lake views at the top. Be sure to take a water filter if you are planning to camp at the top.

This is one of our all time favorite!!
We did the loop down devils staircase..this is a long day but worth everything mike of it ...FYI we try and hike at least once a week and usually 12t Miles so if you have not been hiking maybe hike a bit before you go ...

So gorgeous!!!! Loved the hike!

It is beautiful in the fall season. We started at 8:30am on Saturday morning, and finished at 12:30pm, spending about half an hour around the cave area. Not so many people in the morning, but encountered quite many groups on our way back.

So much fun!!

It was fun:)

Best place ever

One of our absolute favorite hikes!! It’s long, but not a hard hike with lots of beautiful views!

Amazing scenery, when you get to the top, easy to follow and it is perfect this time of year..

This was a fun Saturday day activity for our camp trip. Our extended family hiked this in about 3 hours . We had kids ranging from 5 yrs - 14 Years, plus a 4 month old and 2 year old in back packs. On the Flag Ranch road, look for the sign that says “cascade creek” for the trail head. The entire trail is gorgeous. The end of the trail is not a very good view. The best view is from a rock cliff a little bit back from the end of the trail.

My 11 yr old son and I hiked and loved it. The trail is beautiful the whole way up because the leaves are changing. The cave is very cold, bring a good jacket. Great hike, but definitely longer than listed here. I clocked it on my phone at just under 9 miles.

Excellant hike, beautiful foliage in the fall all the way up. The cave at the top is worth exploring, flashlight needed. Watch your footing, as ice is already forming along the stream bed.

beautiful but hard to access

Upper Lake was great.Leg burner for the last quarter mile. Don't look for campsites by the lake but pick your birds nest north of the lake by abandoned outhouse. Plenty of knobs to choose from.

I just completed this trail, with my 5 year old. we had a blast. I would definitely recommend it..

We got all the way to the cave with our 3 year old and 1 year old. The wildflowers in the meadow at the top were unreal. It was a tough hike, but so worth it! The cave was so neat!

Awesome views! On a clear day you can see the Tetons! Loved this hike. At the summit you feel like you're walking around a fish bowl.

This is one of my favorite places to hike. We usually hike to the rim then down into the crater. Last Saturday, we found a nice buck down in the crater. If you need a real challenge, there is an access road on the North end of the Butte. This road is comparable to the old trail (Lovingly referred to as the "butt-buster") I also recommend you hike it in the morning. I go about once a week, in the mornings, and have NEVER seen a snake. Only a few lizards, deer, bunnies, and a few rodents.

I really enjoyed this, beautiful view of the lower mesa falls. Most rewarding if you take the steep hike down through the rocks to be right next to the river and water falls.

Nice easy trail. Pretty scenery , old forest trail makes walking easy
