We only hiked to the footbridge because we have a 4 and 6 year old. We weren’t sure if they could make the entire hike. It was a beautiful hike and just perfect for our family.

This is a very nice moderate hike up to the Alpine lake. it does have a few steeper sections but there are also flat sections to catch your breath. The drive to the trailhead through the box canyon to the back of it winds past a few lakes. there are areas of shade along the trail as well as woods that you will hike through. a nice varied topography. as you near the last section you will come across a trail junction with the Glacier Trail. if you veer off to the left here, after about 100', you will come across a bridge which has a wonderful view of the river rushing down through the nartow. canyon walls.

May 29, 2019. Beautiful sunny day and only saw three other groups of hikers. The trail was still a bit muddy but didn't have trouble passing any wet/muddy areas.

Excellent trail, enjoyed the colours, rock formations and lichen. A photographers dream. Partially overcast conditions helped this 74 year old reach the Lake. Moderate hikers should not miss this trail.

What a beautiful hike! Mostly up and down a lot, super windy today and cold at the lake. Well worth the hike! Came upon a pesky chipmunk looking for a handout at the lake.

This is an amazing hike. I did it on Xmas Eve with light snow and it was as challenging as it gets (used snow shoes when needed). Would not advise doing what I did, but you won't be disappointed any time. Amazing views. One of the best hikes in the area.

This lake is one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. The hike is very difficult if you’re backpacking. Hope to come back one day

Not so hard as AllTrails rates it. You only go as far as you want. I did about 5 miles today. It was beautiful and peaceful. Very low traffic on trail. Cool to explore the petroglyphs near TH — don’t miss them. It’s kind of like an Easter Egg hunt looking for them.

Beautiful long day hike. Straightforward trail, some signage. Loads of wildflowers in July. Some minor boggy areas.

If you're in the area and want a hike that will give you an amazing view of the Teton, Absaroka, and Wind River ranges, Whiskey Mountain Trail is the one you want! The wind was helacious when I went on this hike with gusts up to 70mph, but the experience was worth it! It was a long day hike (8.5 hours) from the Wildlife Viewing Station to the summit then down through Whiskey Creek Canyon and back to the Wildlife Viewing Station. Hiking this in June guarentees you beautiful views of wildflowers, elk herds, and snow-capped mountains. It's definitely a challenging hike, so trekking poles are highly advised. Also, bring extra layers and lots of water! There are no places to fill up while on the trail. Snowbanks offer an emergency source of water, but only through June since they melt by July. Bear spray is also required in this area. My group saw several bear tracks and scat in addition to fresh wolf prints. Overall, an awesome hike!

I have taken this trail many times. Will be going again this year. My grandson is going for the first time. Great scenery. Great camping. Great fishing. Love the Wind Rivers!

We forked off and tried to make it to Louis lake, but it was getting dark. Gorgeous hike, awesome water falls, but never made it to the lake. We started heading back a little to close to dusk and came across the path of an angry moose or bear. We didn't stick around to see what we pissed off!

Still lots of snow and a bit of mud in June, made parts difficult.

I did this trail for a 3 day Gannett peak climb. I found this easier to do than the titcomb basin side. There is water pretty much the whole way. Very scenic.

I took 18 guys from Dallas to do this by backpacking in and doing some fly-fishing. I was the leader of the group. This was one of my early days of hiking. I was told that it was an easy hike. I was four months out from having my entire right leg re-aligned. Let's just say I struggled. The switch backs the first several miles straight up are tough with a fifty pound pack on. Beautiful country though with awesome views. I want to go back now that I'm more experienced and in better shape.

Glacier Trail was my first backcountry camping and mountaineering experience. This past August 2012 I traveled with six other students and two instructors from the Central Wyoming College to make a summit attempt on Gannett Peak. We began at the Whisky Mountain Trailhead near Dubois, Wyo. and hiked straight through ending in Pinedale, Wyo. It was an amazing 11 days in the backcountry. We did successfully reach the summit of Gannett and spent a few days in the cirque. It was a hard push on the way out because we only had permission to camp 10 miles beyond the Cirque. We had to climb Bonney Pass and Knapsack Col before reaching our target campsite. It was a great adventure.

Summit is 11157 ft. Many switchbacks, very strenuous. The view of Ross Lake is stunning.
