took my children into dads lake and out in one day. It was a very well maintained trail that was easy to walk with the kids. Beautiful views the entire way in and out.

Beautiful but very crowded!

Loved every moment of it

A favorite place to hike into, then take day hikes out each day to many spots. Although the trail is heavily used, it never seemed out of control. We would encounter 1-2 groups only on each trip and briefly.

So many good views. The trail is easy to follow and not obscured. Moderate and gentle inclines/declines. You pass a good amount of water so if you can treat it, you don't need to pack it in. Plenty of places for camping.

Bugs were light, trail was continuously scenic, weather was great.

We hiked about 8 or 9 miles in and we camped beside Square Top Mountain. the views were incredible! the mosquitos were horrible, and resistant to every kind of bug spray! If I hike this again, I will pack a few citronella candles, they would be worth the added weight. The beginning of the trail is tricky to locate, we thought it followed the lake edge at the beginning, there is a trail there, but it quickly turns into mountaineering on a briar covered cliff face. When you get to the lakes edge, before the woods starts and a small creek is flowing downhill, look up to the right. The trail is a hundred or so yards uphill and where it enters the woods. On our way out, we stopped a couple groups from repeating our mistake.

It was an adventure! Cool beautiful beaver damn/lake. Hike was good for as far as we got - a skunk chased us, tail in the air, rear end facing us. We ran like hell! I think the skunk was protecting it's young. We waited a while and tried passing again but the skunk came after us again. We left!

AWESOME

Loved this trail! We took about 10 llamas, 5 people and 2 dogs with us and it was an incredible getaway. The trail is pretty easy (made easier with pack animals to carry our heavy stuff) and the views were incredible. The icy refreshing lake made for a great reward after about 2 days in. Perfect for a 5 day trip.

This trail takes you to the Shadow Lake and the North Side of the Cirque of the Towers and the views are stunning. Can climb up the very steep Texas Pass and see the Cirque of the Towers from the south, even more amazing and return back to the Big Sandy trail-head

The Hike up this trails is amazing. The view of Squaretop Mountain in the distance near both Green River Lakes and along the beautiful Green River is amazing.I Hiked from the trail-head to the Vista Pass junction this year as part of the Wind River High Route between Green River Lakes and Big Sandy Openings. Hike From Summit Lake to the trail-head on a Big Sandy Openings hike to Green River Lakes year ago.

An amazingly beautiful place. There are many trails that branch off from the big sandy trail after 6 miles. We did a 2 night 3 day loop. We hiked passed big sandy lake and clear lake the first day, camping near clear lake on the giant rock slabs. The next day we passed deep lake and temple lake, looping around we camped near rapid creek the second night. This is a loop that connects back to big sandy lake. I think most people don't realize u can loop around as many of the people we met had gone on the same path to deep lake and back. We passed many hikers on the way to deep lake but saw no one the second day hiking near rapid creek. The different scenery of mountains, lakes, meadows, and creeks were amazing. The total loop was around 24 miles.

This trail has some of the most spectacular scenery ever! We camped the first night at Sapphire Lake (west of Hobbs). We had it to ourselves and it was a great spot. The next day we did a day hike to Island Lake and Titcomb Basin. I don't know if I've ever seen any more spectacular scenery. Seneca Lake looks incredible. Then, the view from the 2nd pass down toward Island is top notch. Then, the area in Titcomb Basin looks like you are in another world with the jagged mountains coming up out of the water! Our third night we camped at Eklund Lake. The trail that goes above the Lake has a view of the lake and the Wind Rivers in the background that is also incredible! I woke up before the sun came up and there was fog everywhere and the pictures were incredible and I felt like I was in the Smoky Rocky Mountains! Tough trail, but so worth it, you won't even notice the pain :)

Shadow lake trail is a moderate hiking trail that leads past several lakes before coming to Shadow Lake. Meeks Lake, Mirror Lake, Dads Lake and Marms Lake. Well marked trail with some nice views of meadows, lakes, streams and mountains. @backpackerneil

The views are amazing once you get through trees. Had a great backpacking trip with my son. It was our first backpacking trip together so we stayed at Hobbs Lake and did a couple day hikes up to Seneca Lake he's only 11 so we took it easy! Planning our next trip up he wants to camp at Seneca and maybe Island Lake then hike up to titcomb basins!

Titcomb Basin and Island Lake couldn't be more scenic. The first half of the trail is a gentle incline but the last half is a series of sever up and down sections. We're thinking about returning again next year and utiIzing the services of a local outfitter who can haul our packs to Island Lake. That way, we can hike in with light day packs.

We hiked the trail during the weekend BEFORE Labor Day and it snowed. Always be prepared for adverse weather in the Winds.

Breathtaking beauty at every turn. Went in early August, the wild flowers were in bloom as were the Mosquitos, bring bug spray or a net.

Easy well maintained trail that rises and climbs through 5 drainage's passing multiple lakes. As you get to the washakie creek area you can view the north size of the cirque of the towers. I rate the trail as moderate difficulty only because of the altitude. The lake is at timberline but has a few pockets of trees that provide some shelter from wind.

Good trail to a beautiful lake with amazing views. Went past the end of the trail along the side of the Lake. Wished I could have gone into the upper basin above the lake. Be sure to take a side trail to a saddle a little below the lake for a great view of Haystack and Temple peaks.
