Kohler-Andrae State Park in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, is the home of majestic sand dunes, miles of golden beach, shimmering blue Lake Michigan water, whispering pines, an abundance of wildlife, and recreational activities for everyone. Kohler-Andrae State Park is one of the last natural preserves along the Lake Michigan shore, and is open for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Beautiful scenery! Give this a 4 because sooooo many people. Great hike for me and the hubby, but not easy for more mature adults (my mom is 64 and had a hip replaced). Some pretty steep hills/dunes even on the boardwalk.

Beautiful hike! Not too difficult. Incredible views of Lake Michigan on one side and the uniquely beautiful plant community. The cordwalk protects the dunes from erosion and makes walking in the sand easier. It can be slippery with sand on the hills. Bring water and a hat or other sun protection as there is no shade. If you bring your dog make sure they have water too! This year, with high water levels on the lake, there was very little beach area.

I enjoyed this unique hike through the dunes of Lake Michigan. The boardwalk made walking easy and also protects the delicate landscape. The trial is exposed and although it was a cool day I worked up a sweat and wished I had brought water. There are some nice views of the lake and I spotted an American Kestrel flying by. A quick stop at the Sanderling Nature Center provided flush toilets, drinking fountains and some nice exhibits of the local fish and fauna. I walked the boardwalk one direction and then walked the shore back, wading in the cool lake.

just wanted to add that dogs are allowed on most of this trail. there are signs to specify which trails dogs are not allowed on.

This trail always leaves me sweating and smiling. The views of the lake are phenomenal, and the dunes offer a much different landscape than most hikes in Wisconsin. The boardwalk allows access to wildflowers and birds, while still protecting the dunes. It’s usually windy being so close to the lake, and there’s no refuge for shade! There are, however,?benches to rest and enjoy. Pack a hat and some water!

39 degrees, stiff SE wind off the lake kept the crowds away. Great invigorating hike along shoreline. Many beautiful views, migrating birds, sand dunes, unique flora.

A short, simple loop but very pretty. I have run this trail often (See "Pinewood Deerby" segment on Strava.) Beach to the east, playground on the north trailhead (if you bring the kids), lined pine trees in the southwest corner, and a hotbed for deer in the northeast corner. I see 2+ deer here 75% I run here, and they usually let you get within 40 feet of them before they calmly walk away. My favorite part of the the Kohler Andrea Trails.

My family will come back here for sure! It's great for all ages and dogs! It's a great stay for the site you see in Wisconsin. To me it feels like I'm in Florida here. No JOKE.

Fantastic spot! The dunes are incredible, the view of Lake Michigan is serene! It was quiet, not a lot of people. I can't believe this gorgeous spot is in Wisconsin! It is a must visit!

Nice trail, very unique for Wisconsin. Great scenery, with lots of awesome lake views with several ups and downs through the dunes. Just over 3 miles round trip makes it a good manageable distance for young hikers, and the nature center and beach house make for a couple of nice stopping points. Not particularly challenging (rating it moderate is a stretch, in my opinion), but enjoyable. We noticed the "smell" of the trail...kind of a weird thing to notice, but the sandy soil, and arid plants reminded us of how trails smell in Colorado.

Hiked here with a friend on a sunny summer day. We loved the elevation changes as we hiked the dunes and loved the lake views. We did not need to take a break, but chose to take a break and have a picnic and enjoy the scenery. We then continued our hike down to the beach and walked along the beach a ways before heading back. Looking forward to going here, again!
