Day after Road America running double sessions with MotoVid. Tired and felt blah all day at work. Tiring hike, but glad I did it. Off to home for early bed time.

HikingGreat!Rocky

Hiked mid September 2020. Conditions were good. Wet from previous night's rain, and there was a little drizzle towards the end of our out-and-back trip. Saw several different species of fungi, birds were active, and a few other woodland creatures made appearances. Pine needles smelled fantastic in the morning. There's a nice hillside full of ferns somewhere in the middle of this segment. Benches are frequent. Make sure to sign the logbook at the overlook! Overall this trail was kind of fun. Moderate difficulty. Not much to see, so probably won't hike it again.

awesome. nice rolling trail. A few rocks and lots of trees. We had very few bugs. We went at noon on Labor day. It was nice and cool. We loved it.

Couldn’t have asked for a better hike for the pup and I. Perfect weather. The woods broke up some pretty hefty wind gusts (20-30mph) while providing a very unique soundtrack ... not to mention keeping any and all bugs at bay.

Almost nobody out here today. Just enough hills to get that burn. Slightly buggy, but I didn’t need to reapply bug spray. A really nice little hike.

Trails like these make me so happy. People who cross cut the trails and trample through unmarked parts make me sad. There was a mix of emotions as I walked and I saw the trampled “shortcuts.” If you want a shortcut, just don’t choose a long trail. Or turn around. Why do people do this? It’s definitely earned it’s rating of moderate. There’s a lovely lookout at the halfway mark. Careful for the seedlings that reach out and attach to you. I had so many seeds attached to my pants that you could have dropped me in soil and watered me. There were a few mountain bikes, but they *should* be coming in your opposite direction if everyone follows the directions at the trailhead. It’s rocky so watch those ankles. It was SO worth it and I’d do it again for sure.

Pretty trail with a nice lookout halfway through. A few small ponds throughout. Mostly shaded. Lots of mosquitos in some areas. Quite a few bikes, but everyone was respectful of one another. Would recommend!

I had to go back and finish this trail. Lots of tight and winding spots, which I like. Lots of berries to eat along the way.

Nice and fairly easy trail. We were there early in the morning and we didn’t encounter any bikers. Narrow trails and mostly wooded.

Running

Ran the Orange loop July '20. Great trails for a variety of lengths to hike/run. Very wide, sandy and slightly rocky at points. Well-shaded forest throughout with the option for an observation point that allows for a decent viewpoint.

A good trail for a nice morning hike! Some areas were slightly flooded due to rain the previous day but not overly muddy, bugs weren’t too bad either!

Wonderful trail. Be mindful of the poison ivy on the sides of the path. The Blue loop was blocked by a large downed oak tree, ended up doubling back to the Brown and Green loops to get our 5.5 miles.

The past few weekends my husband and I have worked our way through the Scuppernong Nature Trail as well as the Red, Orange, and Green trails. We've enjoyed our time there a lot, especially the Orange and Green Trails, which are scenic, shady, and so far not too crowded to social distance effectively. FYI: The pit toilets are open again as of last weekend, and a ranger was on premises to check park passes and answer any questions today. Go hike the Scuppernong Trails this summer!

Hikers go clockwise, bikers go counter clockwise. Decent trail but a little narrow, you have to hop out of the way for bikers and it sometimes gets a little tight.

It was nice and shaded which was nice for a day like today at 84 degrees. But the trails were very narrow in most places. You most definitely need bug spray!!! My 10 year old thought it was a Little boring because there was not much to look at, but it was still pretty being that it was very green and lots of trees. The Lookout point was nothing spectacular. The best part was seeing a pretty big turtle laying eggs towards the end by the pond.
