Tygart Lake State Park is a cozy, quiet getaway for couples and families. It sits among West Virginia's rolling hills and alongside 10-mile long, 1,750-acre Tygart Lake.

Other than a few areas of the top of the hill, the rest of the trail is either overgrown or covered in trash and rotting fish by the lake. Unfortunately the water level must have been I enough to bring tons of garbage up to the trail and now that the water has receded the trash remains…

The amount of trash was heartbreaking.

We hiked the whole loop. Part of it is really steep. Many branches down toward the summit that we had to navigate around. Wear hiking boots, even if it's hot. Beautiful views of the lake. Worth it. Just be prepared.

Another nice outing with the boys

Took the boys today and shortened the loop by cutting down towards the middle of the Dam Trail- they had fun!

Took Porter on his first hike! Phone was dead so I didn't get to record it- the sunset was incredible on the dam trail when it opened up just below the lodge.
