check road conditions when you're planning to do this trail! tried to get to this trail yesterday and it was completely inaccessible - forest rd 244 is closed for the year and with all the recent rain, canaan loop rd past lindy point was almost impassable (it's normally a rougher rd but it's currently full of giant pot holes and swamped in some areas). if you have a truck/jeep/4 wheeler you would probably be fine coming in from the lindy point side, but i couldn't make it in an AWD subaru.

We hiked this close to sunset on a fine fall day. The sign at the entrance speaks to the views from the top (all the way to Snowshoe on Cheat Mountain), but there appears to be only one rather narrow cleared areas from which you can get a view. As mentioned below, parts of the trail are overgrown and need cutting back. Nonetheless the mass-covered forest floor is wonderful. Just don't expect the kind of views that one might associate with mountain tops.

Not much sunlight hits the trail so the moisture doesn't evaporate. It was very muddy when we hiked it last year. It was a sunny day and the view was beautiful. Seeing a beautiful hawk was one of the highlights!

Nice and quiet. 3 - 4 miles west of the Scenic Highway on a still day on the ridge trail and all you hear is the faintest hint of Williams and Cranberry as a backdrop to the critters....in between jets of course.

We did not see the rattlesnakes or the mud. What we did see was beautiful scenery. Especially the view from Table Rock.

Short 3.4 mile trail that runs along the top of burner mountain. Follows an old four-wheeler path that is easy to follow. A very nice stroll trough the woods. Lots of leaves changing colors in mid October. Keep an eye out for wildlife though. Did see various piles of animal droppings including a bear.

I loved this trail. I hope we can come back and do it all.

Nice trail but we got a late start and did not do it all. The trail was in fairly good shape, although there was some blowdown.

My dad took me fishing here a lot as a child, and even as an adult it's still one of my favorite places to visit. I love the nature and the view. This place is beautiful all year round.

Great Hike and especially beautiful view at Table Rock. Easy so it makes it nice to bring someone who isn't all that into hiking. Be careful though, I have come across good size rattlesnakes at Table Rock and almost stepped on one in a crack.

Awesome trail. The northern end near the Cranberry campground was in great shape last time I was there, July of 2015. This can be a backbone for a lot of great loops.

I took my kayak to Spruce Knob Lake a few weeks ago. This is a great place for beginners to practice their paddling/maneuvering skills. The day I went, it was a little chilly with some light rain. The water was calm, but there were still plenty of individuals fishing and kayaking. There's an easy area where you can load/unload your kayak as well as easily guide your kayak to and from the loading area.

Fairly level, easy, 1-2 hour hike, as mentioned, a little or lot muddy depending on time of year and if recently rained. Stunning views of protected forest land. Road to/from to trailhead is equally scenic. Bring a camera. Highly recommend.

Very nice and easy hike - as others have mentioned, it is a little muddy in spots but nothing to prevent you from going. Great views at Table Rock. Would recommend!

I didn't do the full 16 miles due to getting a later start. Their were lots of trees down and a little narrow in some places. The signs for the trail and barely readable and due to that I did get lost once.
Not my favorite, not my least favorite.

Short hike with lots of unavoidable rocks, and frequent sloppy wet ground. Above-the-ankle, waterproof boots are a must. The views and solitude certainly make this a hike worth doing.

Nice trail. Not too many people traveling when I was there. Easy going gravel road. Nice views as soon as you get away from the houses.

Very short, easy trail with a beautiful forest surrounding it. It's easy to avoid getting muddy if you take the time to figure out which rocks to step on, but most of the trail is generally dry. The view is spectacular in spring, summer, and fall. The road on the way is also full of beautiful forests and abundant wildlife. I've hiked this trail multiple times and the view never fails to take my breath away.

Good trail can easily be done in a hour depending on how much time you spend at the rock. Great view at the end defiantly worth the short hike.

Overgrown in the summer months. Wear long pants and shirt regardless of heat index. Many berry bushes with thorns.
