Road and trail are completely snow free. The trail is steep but really short. As of 5/20 the stairs to get onto the lookout are still locked. View was amazing. Also Alltrails directions will take you to the wrong place, use WTA directions.

Very nice hike! Reward views all over the hike) no shade, so plan to hike at partly clouded skies. Will recommend hike boots or any toe protected shoes. Elevation gain at some points is pretty dramatic, and one hard place. Well maintained territory around. Dog friendly. Huge parking. There are a lot of small hikes on the way so keep track of your trail. With taking photos, stops, extra 0.6 miles of hike it took 2 hours to come back.

it was easy on our bad knees but still gave us a bit of exercise. easy elevations was what made the knees be able to continue without any pain to speak of. and the wildflowers were gorgeous this time of year (May.)

Went on a colder rainy dry so the tunnel felt dry and slightly warmer then outside, perfect. Spooky at first but then loved it. Very cool experience. Only saw a few people, no bikers, most of the time we had the tunnel to ourselves.

Forest road is open! Snow on last two miles of trail to the lake

Strong workout. Nice views at the top but nothing outstanding. Lots of fallen trees that are annoying if you like to walk at a steady pace. BUGS!!!!
We're glad we did it, but we'll not do it again.

Easy, beautiful half-day hike

The spring runoff has the creek running too wide and fast to cross. Beautiful area though. Would be a great hike when the creek is passable.

Cool hike, forgiving. Fun views and close to town. Lots of people and dogs.

The trail was hard to read, I ended up turning back. I was not prepared enough. Thanks I did a recording to find my way back.

Had to hike 3 miles up the forest service road just to get to the trailhead, which tired us out and we couldn't reach the lake due to heavy snow packed on the trail passed the bridge half way through. I will definitely be back in a month or two I can only imagine how nice it will be up top!

We summited on May 5. Great hike until about 5k feet when the snow got pretty deep. You’ll want a downloaded trail map to find your way. Snowshoes and poles with baskets also a good idea. Bring lots of water, that last climb is a burner but well worth it.

Road to car park still covered with snow, but once you reach the car park the path become dry and view is great

Too much snow for a small car to traverse once you hit the fork near the top. A truck or four wheel drive might have better luck, but frozen snow was quite high and scraping the bottom of our car. Needs a few more weeks.

well maintained trail for all ages and abilities. very little snow left. perfect for younger kids who love to explore, ours are 7 and 11. scenery and views second to none.

that means you dont have to pay, but you gotta watch out for the pigs

This makes for a great shoulder season hike when other trails are too snowed in. There was a considerable amount of down trees and debris covering the trail from the trail head to the first junction. Pants are recommended. The water is almost always easy to access and many options about for further exploring on and off trail. You hike the first mile and a half on a residential access road passing three or four residences. This is a bit confusing but eventually you hot the trail itself and shortly after that you are in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.

Love this trail. Easy hike among giant cedars. beautiful green river beside you and snow covered mountains around you. one of my favorites. still a bit of snow, but the road is now opened.

Don't let the short distance and little elevation gain fool ya. You're starting out at an elevation of around 6,000 feet so if you're not used to the altitude you will find yourself a little more winded. This trail was so beautiful and so much fun. I will definitely be going back!

Nice snowshoe walk at the end of the season. Sun was coming through. Some walked without snowshoes but they were struggling a little.

Nice hike with breathtaking meadow views. Ended at the lake with a light lunch. September was the perfect time to go.

Most beautiful ending to a hike ever. The way up is pretty hard and (honestly) ugly, but once you break through to the view and the meadows it is amazing. I definitely recommend going across the stream from the lake up over the hill to see the best view. Great hike!

Did this in 2015 with a few friends. Note that coming down to the lower side, having ascended Aasgard Pass, requires some boulder clambering skills, though no extra equipment above a pair of shoes with good grip is required. Outstanding views along the way. Really is a must hike for any fit person in Washington.

Great hike and great views. There is still lots of snow on the trail. Some areas were packed down and easy to hike, other areas, I was falling through the snow up to my knees. Having snow shoes with me would have been nice, but the trail wasn't too long and the view at the end was worth it.

In the snow, this hike was OK. Only made it about 70-80% up. Did it in sneakers and kept punching through the snow near the top. First time hiking this trail so no idea where I was going. Followed the snowshoe tracks until they stopped.

Sad - no good pictures and not much to see. But then again, didnt do the entire hike.

beautiful sunny day with some long range views in places easy hike on packed snow with 7 and 10 year old wearing hiking boots. will do again in warmer months for sure, very nice first day of Spring hike

Beautiful views but Trail is an old Track Road and not in the best of shape. I understand it is soon scheduled for major upgrades in 2019. The trailhead facility itself was updated in the past several years. It is very nice. It has safe parking and a large covered picnic area.

Hiked it last year in the summer
