an amazing hike. It's only me and my girlfriends second time ever hiking so it felt long for us but it was beautiful the whole time. Also this is a trail that any experience level should be able to do!

I found this hike challenging with the different terrains, the talus, and then slippery snow at the end to the lake. I'm new to hiking and it was more difficult than I expected but I think it will be easier in the summer and plan to Hike it again when I can see the lake and walk around it without snow! Definitely need hiking shoes to safely hike this trail.

It is beautiful!! Greats views .

This was a beautiful hike! Just did it today may 20th! Got to the top in 50 min not too difficult just a good slow incline the whole way! Snowy the last bit but i had sneakers and wasn’t ever a problem! Will definitely do again when the snow is gone around the lake!

A wonderful hike! I got there at 8:30 and there were only a few spots left in the parking lot. It is so worth getting there early because on the way up, I mostly had the trail to myself. The waterfalls are wonderful, there's a piece where the trees clear and you get an amazing view of the surrounding mountains, and of course the lake at the top is gorgeous. Still a little snowy so you can't get around the lake too much but still a great place to sit for a while and just enjoy the view. It's a steep hike so get ready for it to kick your booty!!

Fun hike. Lots of people so go early.

This was a great hike! Our 7 year old loved it as well.

Beginning of May hike, and it was a great hike! Parking lot is small, so getting to the trailhead early is nice. Right now there is still a little snow on the last part of the hike to see the lake, but manageable. I’ll do it again in summer to see the lake not snowy!

This hike has everything - waterfalls, mountain views, snow, and an incredible lake view at the top. It is difficult because of the various types of terrain. You hike through rivers, lots of big rocks, and the last part of the hike is completely covered in snow. Highly recommend waterproof shoes with good traction and/or snow cleats that you can pack with you and put on for the last bit of the hike. It's very slippery, and easy to fall through patches of snow and find yourself knee deep. The view at the top is totally worth it!!

You’ll have to walk 6 miles to trailhead from Heather Lake TH due to road blockage. It was too much for me to take on the additional trek and turned around at 4 miles. Some snow at mile 4 on the road. There were some epic waterfalls along the way though. I’ll have to come a little later in the year when they open the access road back up.

Trail is currently closed. We ended up doing Heather Lake instead.

great view and enjoyable dog walk.

Beautiful trail. Couldn’t hike around the lake entirely because of the snow and being unable to find the trail. I fell in a stream about 1/4 the way around the lake in knee deep snow, so decided to turn back. Regardless, this was a really fun hike! Be prepared to have wet feet since it is a muddy trail and you walk through some streams and a waterfall.

This trail was a little difficult for me, having COPD, but I managed to only stop three times briefly. I was definitely glad to reach the frozen lake and was able to cool off and catch my breath before beginning our descent. We will definitely do this one again.

Great hike!!

Hiked this trail with my uncle when I was 10 yrs old. Instilled in me a love for hiking and the outdoors. Great panoramic view from the summit on clear days!

Nice trail, with a fair bit of rocks and roots to step over. Lots of snow pack about a 1/2 mile out from the lake. Would definitely still recommend hiking shoes, not sneakers, but no need for anything winter specific. Busy trail, aim to get there earlier if you can. Lot was packed by 9:45am, and required parking down the road a bit.

Snow covering last 1/4 of the trail. Multiple feet of snow around the lake. Lake frozen, with water visible at the discharge point and at a couple of inlet point. Avalanches occurring on the far side.

Snow starting to melt but present about 2 miles into hike. Be prepared for your feet to get wet, bring lots of socks.

Hiked this trail late April of 2017. This was fairly challenging but well worth it.

The trail varied from well marked and groomed, to minimal markings in the rocky areas. I had to read through reviews ahead of time (glad i did) to get a sense of how to navigate the rocky portions.

There were several vistas that provided an opportunity to stop and rest while enjoying the view.

I would recommend taking this hike early in the morning because towards the afternoon it gets dark on the way down. the entire hike including a 45 min lunch at the top took me about 5-6 hours at a steady pace.

The fire tower at the top was great. Plenty of room despite the 10-15 other hikers I met up there.

Well worth the hard work to get to the top. but I would plan a whole day so you don't have to rush.

This was a great moderate hike! Still lots of snow at the top! So pretty!

Snow is starting to dissipate. Recommend wearing hiking shoes for now, saw many bust it on the snow that had tennis shoes on.

What a gorgeous hike! We encountered multiple waterfalls on our way up along with old growth trees and beautiful vegetation. The lake at the end is truly spectacular and well worth the climb. Loved hiking here today! Lots of people so be prepared to share the trail. More dogs than I have seen anywhere else so make sure your dog is friendly!
If you go hiking within the next few weeks make sure to wear waterproof shoes with crampons. It will make the hike that much better. The snow is melting, but most hikers noted the increased snowpack this year.
Have fun!

It was a little bit snowy at the top but that is totally to be expected at this time of year! Gorgeous hike and beautiful mountainside when you reach your destination. There is quite a bit of water so make sure to wear water resistant or water proof shoes if you don’t want to get wet! Super easy for dogs to navigate, not too hard on their paws although there is a section that’s mostly shale. Only downfall is it is popular so a lot of stopping and waiting for people. Highly recommend getting there early in the morning if you want to avoid the crowds.

Did this hike on 4-14-18. It rained the whole time, some of the trail was washed out but manageable. Tons of snow at the top which had me wishing I had brought my snowshoes. Overall a super beautiful hike, was surprised how many others braved the weather for it!

Went in the rain. Super wet trail. Lots of creeks and rock hopping to cross. Still a lot of snow towards the top which could be a tad slippery with some sink holes. Beautiful hike nonetheless
