Best forest trails in Miller Peninsula State Park, Washington

Users have reported that the trails are not marked well. This hike is through an undeveloped Washington State Park near Diamond Point on the Miller Peninsula between Discovery Bay and Sequim Bay on the Olympic Peninsula. Except for the final mile, or so, as the trail goes down to the beach, it is on old logging roads. You should see blooming Western Rhododendrons along the trail in May. Beautiful forest of second growth Douglas fir and western red cedar with lush undergrowth of salal, ocean spray, and other typical Pacific Northwest plants. The beach is totally undeveloped with views of Protection Island. It is very rocky, and at high tide the beach is difficult to walk. We saw an immature bald eagle, pigeon guillemots, and black oyster catchers at the beach.Show more

This route starts at the trailhead on the western side of Miller Peninsula State Park along Sequim Bay Road. You'll start along the Manzanita Trail before taking a left to hike along the Bluff Trail right next to the ocean. You'll then take a right and head south to return back to the parking area. There are many other trails in this area if you wish to extend your hike. If you wish to shorten it, you could just turn back along the Bluff Trail, instead of making it a loop.
