Larrabee State Park is a 2,683-acre camping park with 8,100 feet of saltwater shoreline on Samish Bay near Bellingham in northwest Washington. The park features two freshwater lakes, coves and tidelands. Sunsets are gorgeous. A variety of non-motorized, multiple-use trails wind through the park. All cars entering Larrabee State Park will need a Discover Pass.

Nice little trail easily accessed off Chuckanut Drive. There is a big parking lot but I forgot my Discover Pass in the other car so I just parked across the road and had no problems. There had been heavy rains over the weekend but trail was relatively dry with just a few puddles to walk around. Well-signed. Simply follow the wide gravel road uphill 2.25 miles to the end and you will see the cut off to Fragrance Lake. Once there you’ll find a lovely loop trail with wooden bridges, Mossy trees, rock overhangs, and several rustic benches with views where you can sit and watch the dragonflies zoom along the lake’s surface. Do the loop and hike back down the gravel road. My total mileage was 5.6 miles.

Trail was great. Not a lot of people on the trail. Towards the end of our hike we shared a portion of the trail with bikers who were racing. Got a little dangerous dodging bikers.

Super easy hike, mostly drivable road condition type trail. All uphill going in- all downhill heading out. Mountain bike competition candidates were out training for the big event coming up. Hikers and bikes on different trails so no worries there. Road noise for much of the trail but after turning onto fragrance lake loop it is beautiful! The lake is warm- still good for a swim

Being from Texas the elevation was a bit challenging! Well-maintained trails and beautiful scenery loved it!

Beautiful hike with lots of interesting rock features. I would say thus is more of a moderate hike because of the over 600 feet of vertical.

Well-maintained hike that delivers on getting the heart rate elevated. Don't miss the View hike with a sweeping view of Bellingham Bay.

Great hike for the family, have seen lots of kids go up this just fine. A little incline, but a beautiful hike! :)

samish Crest trail

Perfect day hike! Great workout. Beautiful trail. Lake is lovely.

We took secret trail down to the urban trail and walked back up the dirt road to the trailhead. Secret trail is super steep and fun if you like climbing!

Very cool trail. Perfect beginner one for kids too. 1.2 miles or so until you get to a wooden gate, take the trail that goes to the left. After a short walk down that trail you’ll come to a map to go left or right, go right and that takes you to the lake :)

This trail was an awesome trail. I loved it. It was a little more uphill than I was thinking, but it was great. It was a great workout. Beautiful scenery, and very peaceful. The lake itself was so beautiful. I definitely recommend this hike and I will definitely be doing it again.

Great, relatively easy trail. I went on a rainy day and the trail was moderately trafficked. Visibility was poor at the outlook due to weather. Uphill to the lake, downhill back. Dogs welcome, but should be leashed. The only reason I gave this trail 4 stars was because too many unleashed dogs approached my reactive leashed dog.

beautiful! challenging and enjoyable hike. bring your swimming suit!

really nice hike! beautiful views and a nice way to get to fragrance lake.

The first 1.6 miles are all up hill with a decent gradient. This hike ends at the intersection with another trail and not a view point if that's what you're looking for. Theres raptor ridge viewpoint along the way, but that's the only view besides trees and rocks on this hike. This is put together from other trails and is not called out on any signage. The trails themselves are maintained and do not have any real obstacles.

Not a bad family hike, in the shade the whole time. Lake is just barely visible most of the way around, but a couple of access points. A bit steep in places, but wide and you are able to gradually take your time if needed. Well maintained trail, my sort of in shape family and I did this in about 2.75 hours with the stop at the viewpoint. No water until the lake, though in the wet season there are many dry stream beds that likely have running water. You can add miles to this by parking in the park entrance lot and hiking the 2 miles on the interurban trail.

What a perfect hike. Loved the beautiful lush forest and wild ferns along the whole trail. Well worth the steep journey to the refreshing lake! My wife teen daughter 4 year old daughter and puppy had a lovely hike!

Great trail

Easy hiking trail with great views! Most can do the trail, it is up hill but not bad.

Nice trail for a quick morning hike. Good trail surface and nice spots to sit in the lake.

2 miles uphill. Then 2 miles back. "Just keep swimming." Great dog hike. DO go to lookout, even if tired. Trail to lookout is level. Hike can be lengthened by walking around lake, but I didn't. I am a 2-3 mile hiker, but took this challenge on. Thighs hurt 2 days later, but will take friends and family back on this hike again. Beautiful.
