Went to Hemlock trail. Parked right off Chuknut Drive. Do Not Leave Anything in Your Car. Broken window glass on ground AND a car had busted windows out at the Pine and Cedar lakes parking lot when we came down. Girls had just got broken into and calling police when we walked by. Walked Hemlock up to Hucleberry loop but loop was too muddy. Walked back and walked Hemlock to Raptor Ridge viewpoint. AMAZING. worth every step at view point. Walked to Hemlock. Thought it was a loop. Ended up catching Pine and Cedar trail back down to parking lot. Had to walk road back to car. Long hike. Great challenge for sure. First part of Hemlock is amazing with the water stream. Will go again and see Chuk.Falls.

Hiking

Great network of trails. Very well-maintained and groomed. Viewpoints are nice but not impressive. Minimal foot traffic after passing Chuckanut Falls spur trail.

We arrived at 8:40 on a Monday and there were only a couple cars in the parking area. The trail is very well marked and maintained. The lake was pretty and had several openings with benches where you could stop to enjoy the view. There is a .2 mile detour to a view of the bay that was beautiful as well.

HikingGreat!

I entered this trail from the parking area at Lost Lake and Frangrance Lake Rd. Big road with lots of room. Bikers do use this trail. It is a steady climb up. Opted NOT to do the burn out. I took the trail down and loved the variation from the road to the trail. Took me longer than expected. Great workout.

Well-maintained wide trail. All the way shady. Could be sometimes a bit muddy. Easy one for starters and kids.

The trail is a bit muddy but nothing hiking boots can’t handle. Lots of slugs! Passed quite a few people with not much opportunity to pass with 6 feet distance.

06/29/2020 You can get parking to the side of the road if you’re early, or at Larrabee State Park directly across. On a sunny Monday at noon there were quite a bit of people. Average difficulty hike. Steep switchbacks, never for long. Loop around the lake is .75 miles. Always great views.

Hiking

Hiking on a Friday early afternoon: Highly trafficked, especially first few miles. Came across dozens of other people. Many crisscross and intersecting trails of various difficultly going to various places, so easy to take wrong turns. It's a good idea to bring a map or download on phone prior to hiking (cell reception is in and out). For the first couple miles, the road noise from I-5 is load and competing with the birds, but once you get over the ridge you can't hear it anymore. The lakes were quiet and peacful, I didn't want to leave! Many nice places designated to camp out around both lakes (signs say no fires). Fish jumping in lakes, and surprisingly minimal flies, but many wetlands around so I'm sure the bugs can get annoying at times. Many healthy stinging needles on the sides of some of the trails near the beginning, so watch out for ones falling across the path, and make sure any youngsters on the trek know what they are and to keep their distance.

Fantastic trail. Great huge trees. Fern covered floor. Incredible views out to the islands from the lookout point. Nice lake at the top.

Hiking

this was a beautiful hike and somewhat challenging as it was almost entirely uphill. my dog was very happy hiking this trail, as well. however, it was wildly overcrowded which was only disappointing because nearly everyone was acting as if we weren't in the middle of a health pandemic; all mask-less, walking the extremely narrow trail with no effort to social distance. needless to say, this hike took nearly 3 hours round trip due to how frequently we had to completely walk off the trail so people could pass, in order to maintain a 6ft distance. I wouldnt advise hiking this trail during this time for this reason. However the nature/scenery of this hike was phenomenal and the lake while tiny was very serene.

Nice trail for a moderate hiker. The loop around the east side of lost lake is not marked. Very muddy. The best place to stop for lunch or a snack is the first lakeside rock you come to. The way back on this loop is very steep and not well cleared.

Hiking

Definitely a great workout on this trail, front loaded with the big incline up front through fern-lush forest with a stellar finish at beautiful Fragrance Lake. Balsam pine fills the air, along with a bit of Mary Jane along the shore of the lake where the young folks enjoy. :) Some of the most beautiful birdsong I’ve heard accompanied us the whole way, complicated little warbling notes delighting the ears. The lake has a lovely loop with a few different places to sit and relax or picnic. We walked out on the giant tree that fell across part of the lake. Definitely don’t miss the lookout on the way back down. Bring your waterproof hiking boots, it’s muddy in places. Highly recommend this trail.

A nice moderate hike. Starts off a bit steep but easy to manage. If you're looking for a wider path, you can take the extended trail back down to the parking lot and you'll pass a pretty waterfall. Dog friendly and all the owners we passed were good about keeping dogs on leash.
