The park provides an open space away from the stress and activity of the city, a sanctuary for wildlife, and an outdoor classroom for people to learn about the natural world. The park is also home to the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center. Discovery Park is a 534 acre natural area park, located next to the peninsular Magnolia neighborhood in Seattle, and overlooking Puget Sound, with views of the Cascade and Olympic mountains. The park is built on the historic grounds of Fort Lawton, which was originally a Confederate prisoner-of-war camp during the Civil War. The park includes two miles of protected tidal beaches, a lighthouse, open meadow lands, dramatic sea cliffs, forest groves, active sand dunes, thickets, and streams. No dogs allowed on the beach.

Great classic Seattle views. Lots of different things to see. Love the beach!

Yeah rate this as easy.

Sunday stroll

Very nice network of trails. We started at the South lot and walked to the lighthouse. There was some elevation change, but mostly good shade cover. Very nice views and lots if options.

Always lovely with views beaches and forest. Good work out on stairs This is a regular.

Beautiful to do at sunset. Lots of views of the water. Great to see the sunset at the lighthouse. It gets dark quick. Make sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp for your hike back.

nice hike. nice views of the water. well traveled. lots of dogs.

Very beautiful simple hike. Mostly flat with some ups and downs. Incredible view of the bay. In the islands. A beautiful little lighthouse Beach combined with some really sweet trails. A wonderful afternoon.

Easy trail - very flat. Plenty of shades. The view of the extended trail near the water is beautiful

easy and beautiful for an in-city hike. have been hiking this area for over 10 years and it never disappoints. worth it to make it a loop since you'll see more landscape variety that way.

It’s an easy trail, mostly flat! Not much to see on the way but the beach and the lighthouse is beautiful!

Majority is shaded in the woods , the rest is awesome water views . Packed dirt , some sandy trails , and two very short steepish sections with stairs

Good view of Rainer on a clear day.

Super easy for all levels- my 11 year old corgi, albeit tiredly, made the 3mile loop! Can be a little muddy if rainfall recently.

It is heavily used by runners, but it is beautiful.

Fun hike through a variety of scenery. The views of the sound on the south beach trail leading down to the beach are beautiful!

if you get lucky, you'll spot a bald eagle nesting in the canopy along the trail!

Easy fun hike for everyone!

Nice hike for the entire family. Beautiful views from the top of the bluff and on the beach.

The trail is great! There are ups and downs near the beaches. The view towards Bainbridge Island is great but the beaches are not that good. But anyway, would definitely try other trails later.

Good hike. Mostly is flat. A few uphills but nothing crazy.

Nice stroll around an urban park. The beach is really fun, especially if you’re lucky enough, like I was, to see sea otters and seals.

This trail was an awesome get-away from the business of the city. It is a pretty easy hike with equal amounts of shade and sun. There is a road for biking, with plenty of hiking trails that are stroller accessible. If you stay on the loop trail you will avoid all stairs, however if you go down to the beach you will have to climb quite a few stairs. Great conditions, little traffic!

Easy one. Nice view. Close to the city

Beautiful trail and well maintained but not as well marked. With plenty of side trails coming off of it you could easily take a wrong turn. But absolutely beautiful trail and I enjoy the hill climbing as well
