this hike was borderline hard at times but was amazing!! i suggest to do the loop to capture all the amazing views. i clocked it at 8.5 miles. was well worth it, i would start earlier in the day because it get pretty hot in the sun. enjoy!

This trail is one of my favourites within 1 hour of Portland. I’ve hiked this trail twice so far this Spring, and the quality of trail/views/challenge/weather is incredible. I would highly recommend getting to the site earlier in the day since a good amount of the hike is in full sun, and the parking fills up fast. Heed steep parts of the trail, as well. Wear proper footwear.

Guys! This trail had me smiling the whole way up. The railings and the constant views are wonderful. If you are scared of heights PLEASE push past the fear and try it! The bridges and railings are very stable and safe. No mud. It is straight uphill but there are places you can stop. Get here EARLY. If you want to check it out before you go take a look at my YouTube video I did on this! Copy/paste the link below.

Fun time with my wife and our 9YO. Trail was well maintained, and suitable for many abilities due to the switchbacks and hand railings. Area on top was pretty small could see how it could get crowded on nice weather weekends.

This was a great hike in the Gorge! I would say it borders on hard if you do the whole trail, as there are some pretty steep and long uphills. But absolutely beautiful views of Mt Hood and Mt Adams. Actual summit has a bunch of thrush and some obstructed views. Dog friendly too!

Steady climb, great work out if you do more incline intense way up on the loop. Parked below beacon rock and added additional easy hike, nature walk to trailhead.

beautiful views!

Great forestry and greenery in the beginning. Passes over gorgeous waterfalls and Pool of the Winds about a mile in. The climb is pretty steep but you are motivated by the beautiful views of the gorge at every switch back. The summit is pretty vegetated, so it's not a 360 view or anything, but if you continue along the ridge for another half mile or so there is a saddle point which is a great open spot for a picnic and sightseeing. Definitely shorter and easier to do the loop as opposed to summit out and back. Quintessential gorge hike!

Picturesque trail to get away from the city, about 50 minutes away from Portland. The hike is classified as “Moderate” but should be noted that there are some steep inclines and strenuous portions at times even. The view at the top of The mountain is breathtaking and worth the trip up. The parking lot filled quickly, but there are secondary parking areas to accommodate a popular trail.

I hiked this trail with my mom. It was really nice, with stunning views of the Columbia River. I would definitely do this hike again on a beautiful rain-free day!

Good short hike with moderate elevation gain, best done in spring when wildflowers are abundant (April-May). Good for dogs. Watch out for nettles, which are abundant on the lower half of the trail. There's also a little poison oak, but not as bad as on most hikes in the Gorge. Habitats vary from streamside to oak woodland to wetland margin to mature Douglas-fir forest, which makes for good birding and botanizing. Some good views of the main Beacon Rock trail. Quite a popular trail in season, we saw about 50 people on it.

Can't believe I have never been here before. It's a must see. The views are great even though Beacon Rock doesn't sit as high as other gorge hike destinations. It's hard to imagine a couple guys made all those pathways a hundred years ago? Surely a few boards have been replaced since then! Had a fun time with Mom and my nephew.

Great conditioner hike, however the views are obstructed. Lot’s of people.

Beautiful hike. Intermediate difficulty, you will claim a lil to the view point but it worse it!!!

First time go there . Beautiful place easy to walk . You can look at the Columbia river Gorge. My family have fun go there . Recommend to go there.

Beautiful hike, well maintained trail for the most part, breathtaking views around every switchback during the challenging ascent. Can't wait to do it again!

This one intimidated me for years, but was well worth it!!
Very unique experience with the way the trail is formed with suspension bridges and barely there railings. Kind of scary with 4 year old, but she used her listening ears and it was GREAT!

Finally got a chance to do this whole loop. Clocked it at 8.5 miles probably due to a couple side trips to lookouts. Good views at the first lookout spots which some people think is the summit but you are still about a mile from the top. The top was all clouded in so no views from there. Would be worth it to do again on a clear day. Going past the summit to the saddle was worth the extra miles though, great views and a pretty cool feature.

Amazing! View easy short hike only took us about and hour. Only thing is would say that wasn’t enjoyable is the suspended wood bridges lol.

I’m a flat lander from Illinois. The switchbacks elicit fears out of every turn. But make it to the top and it’s smooth sailing all the way down. I noticed some flowering trees on the way down that I had not seen on the way up. I don’t know if it was the adrenaline of reaching the top that made the the way down so easy or the perspective of knowing the top.

Very unique. I have a very healthy fear of heights... mainly vertigo, but I managed. The views are spectacular.

The top top never looked so good.

Did it today and actually made it to the top! So beautiful, the whole entire climb! Will defineftly being doing it multiple times over the summer!

Went out on a Wednesday morning and the place was packed. Nice views and the waterfall was a treat! Only downside was all the traffic (I assume) due to the nearby Oregon trails being closed. Will definitely go back during summer.

Great trail for hybrid hiking/trail running. Beautiful waterfalls, wasn’t too busy today. With spring rains there were no views but it was a fun hike with elevation. Some mud pits in high traffic areas but mostly in good condition. Will definitely be repeating in the summer to check out the views.

Beautiful hike! It's a pretty intense few miles up to the summit of Hamilton Mountain with beautiful views along the way and a nice variety of scenery. It was rainy and windy today when we climbed it, so I can't say much about the view at the top, but the trail itself was great. We were surprised to find a little snow at the top, but not too much! Looking forward to trying it again on a sunny day!

Had a great day hiking. It’s a slow incline on a horse trail and old roads. Once you hit the switch backs it gets harder but great views. 8.5 mile for the loop was long but good. Many other alternatives if you have time for 12 miles. Great views of Mt Hood and Mt Adams.
