Good trail over all. Nice shade. Not very crowded. Took our 6 year old daughter she had no problem getting through. Some parts need to be maintained a little better. I would hike it again.

Visited Westmoreland State Park on 8-3-19. Enjoyed walking through this trail. Its about a 3 mile trail that loops near the Potomac River and back through the creek on a raised wooden boardwalk. Then the well marked trail winds through the woods up a couple sets of steep staircases and then loops back towards the visitors center. Nice to walk the dogs, good for kids. I'd say its moderate only because the staircases. otherwise a pretty easy trail. it was $10 to enter the park. so plan accordingly and they do take credit card if you don't carry cash.

Great workout trail with lots of steps, short trail, not one for smaller children though the step are very step and not in the best of condition while I was there.

Fissile beach is pretty nice! Pretty look out view before getting there. Pretty easy at first going downhill, moderate on the way back. Really enjoyed this!

very steep steps! the trails' main purpose seems to be to just get from the visitors center to the beach. in the direction the stairs are going down. unless you really want a stair workout (135 steps!) it's not really worth it just got the sake of a hike. I did enjoy the workout, though

$7.00 to get into the park Nice well marked trails with activities to do on the trail like searching the beach for shark teeth and exercise stations. Two moderately steep hills to climb not bad. Part of the trail goes through the swamp, gets a little muddy. Wear good shoes and put on tick repellent, bring water and snacks if your bringing kids.

I specifically picked this trail in order to take my 2 dogs to the beach. It’s in a state park and be aware that there is a $5 parking fee (they do take credit cards). The park itself was pretty awesome. There’s a pool (with a slide), rental cabins, and a lot of activities. It would be a great place to stay overnight. The trail is packed dirt. I will warn you that there are 3 long steep stairways that are not for the faint of heart. The beach was amazing and definitely worth the trip.

Paved hiking trail. A couple of muddy sections with a nice view of the pond at the end.

Nice loop featuring a Potomac River beach. Mostly flat and easy with 2 short steep sections down and up the bluff. Also features a wetland with good birding and wildlife viewing. Overall, one of the best hikes in eastern Virginia.

Pretty easy hike. Nice wildlife views and some of the trail is elevated above the marsh.

More on the easy side then moderate. It was a nice trail.

First time take our dog on a trail hike. My pace was slower because of all of the smells he encountered. Few people on trail which worked good for me because I wasn't sure how he would be on trail, but will do it again with him.

First time on this trail- beautiful and loved hearing the waves crash over the rocks down by the beach. Definitely get your heart rate up by doing the series of stairs.

Like they've said, easy at the beginning and very flat and still, but after a little over a mile, the ups and downs begin. The trail sort of ends at the cliffs and beach, which is not ideal for those looking for a loop. We followed the meadow trail to the road and walked by the visitor's center to the parking area for the trail.

Beautiful campsites walking distance from the river.

Park boasted it was the best park in all of Virginia at the entrance. I doubted it, and then I saw fossil beach. While it may not be the most intense hike, Turkey Neck trail was enjoyable and if you run it you'll sweat! Really great conservation trail with exercise stations at intervals, this place has me thinking about a membership.

Nice trail, it's paved so kinda pedestrian but on the plus side it is handicap accessible.

Wonderful trail the begining is a little pedestrian, but turns into better hike when you get closer to the marshy area. I'll definitely be going back in the warmer months.

Loved it we took a rescue pup here and it was a lot of work but the small beach was fun and the site was amazing!

One of my favorite places to car camp. very convenient, firewood provided and electric to make a a pot of coffee in the morning. We always take the trail to the beach to look for sharks teeth. like others said, the trails are not going to get you a great workout. just a quiet relaxing place in the woods.

Decent campsites, went Labor Day weekend. Pitched a tent with boyfriend, sister stayed in an rv, and we had one friend in a hammock. Too close together for my taste but way better than a KOA by all means. Decent sized lots, each with picnic table, firepit, electric and water. We didn't have septic, but there wash house is close. The trails were more of a short walk than a 'hike' but pretty scenery and well maintained- one leads to the beach where you can pan for shark teeth. There's a huge pool, paddleboat/canoe/kayak rentals and a snack stand. Had a really good time overall!

have never camped here but the sites seem nice and level. as for hiking I would say it is more of an afternoon stroll but fun and relaxing, excellent for families with smaller children. there are also many other activities if you want more
