Took us much longer than expected. Six-seven hours for the loop. Went after a few heavy rainfalls (ok tropical storm Florence) and the rivers and streams were full. Running water was everywhere, coming out of the ground too! Had to carry our miniature Aussie across a couple times. Wet feet and hungry but would do it again.

Awesome grove of hemlock. It’s like a different world.

Nice view from the top! A nice climb, rocky uphill.

Park map rated this difficult, but the family managed this climb with little difficulty. Took a little time with a young child, but he did well. Definitely a moderate climb and the view at the top was worth it.

Short and steep trail with great view of the river at the peak. Also the state park is an excellent place to camp.

Couldn't get up to the trail because the road was closed.
The route was not into the state park but a backroad through people's driveways. No trespassing signs posted and gated roads.

Great little workout. Be careful if it's wet, lots of slate rocks. Great view, there is a bench about half way if you need to rest.
