Really gorgeous during the summer, though a bit tough to find initially. We started at the South River Falls Trailhead, took a right on the AT and then a left onto the forest service road. From there, it's fairly easy to follow. Not too many steep areas or difficult terrain, though parts of the trail are fairly overgrown. We did see a fair amount of bear droppings, and from what we saw/read, the trail is good for seeing wildlife. Overall, it's an easy hike, and a good way to spend the afternoon.

This is very misleading. This is a photo of South River falls and the map is of the same. Looked for this actual trail. Ranger said to go to South River Overlook and cross road to fire road and go down. Went about a mile and never found so we ended up on the South River Falls trail and was amazing but a lot of folks were doing the same.

Great hike, moderate incline on the way back. Kid friendly as long as they can go 3 miles or so without complaining.

Very calming hike down to the falls... We enjoyed splashing in the puddles and climbing on rocks in the middle of the stream. The falls were amazing, and I can't wait to come back when the greenery is in full bloom. Hike back was a little difficult... Completely uphill!! But we saw a bear cub!!
