Interesting and historical hike. Trail gets a little ‘lost right at the last ‘interpretive stop’. The blue ribbons on the trees sent to have been knocked over during a storm. (And looks to be one awhile ago). Also be careful of black snakes. They are out and about. I saw three of them. (Two at the Clements House)

There were other trails I could walk down but I stuck to this particular prescribed route. This was a terrific route, very short but the history behind it could keep you here for over an hour. Can you imagine fighting in a place like this in a war that did not have the strategies like we have today. The story of this conflict, the siege at Petersburg, is an inspiring story of patriots sacrificing everything for their country, for the union as well as the confederacy. This trail is a must for anyone in the area.

It's a decent wooded trail, nothing too exciting. Unfortunately, the trail is covered in pebbles, which means it's crunchy, loud, and unpeaceful. The noise scares off deer and birds...

Nice easy trail, just a tiny bit of elevation gain. Interesting history. Some areas close to traffic but peaceful and quiet overall. Not heavily trafficked.

This park has very long trails. I have run over 10 miles through these trails and didn't come close to seeing everything. It is much longer than the .7 miles that is listed. Very friendly running, hiking, walking, biking and horseback riding.

Pretty scenery. Very short. Loads of bugs. Definitely not bike friendly. Disappointed. It's more of a tourist stop than a hiking or biking trail.

Had a great time walking the trail. Some parts are a little overgrown but still passable. Creek crossings, road crossings, animals, and plant life were awesome. Fun trail!

We did the 7 mile loop. It is covered by trees most of the way, which is nice for Virginia summer weather. Very little elevation.

Fairly flat hike through nice broadleaf forest. Wide trails shared with bikes and horses. Only a little Civil War history on this hike; the main earthworks and theaters of action are to the south and west of this loop. To see the history, hike the battlefield's interpretive trails as well as this one.

Nice trail. Very easy and wide enough for a vehicle. hiked entire trail at moderate pace in less than 2 hours.

I spent about 7 hours hiking the trails here and still didn't see all of it. There is great scenery and history, but the map is inaccurate otherwise this would be a 5.

Nice trail but I got irritated with the poor mapping. Even talked to some employees that said some of the older side trails aren’t listed on the maps that All Trails has as well as online & the printed maps. Not a good idea if you ask me, especially someone who can’t figure out their directions (I don’t have a problem with this) Pay attention to your tree markers & you’ll be okay. If going with your dog bring water, there isn’t much on the trail, especially if it hasn’t rained recently.

Love this place!!

I truly have enjoyed running through the park. Have run the Road Tour. Good shoulder for bikers, walkers and runners.
7+ miles for round trip. (Many trails that could be explored as well)
Good challenge. Some decent hills along the way, both ways.
Beautiful, peaceful scenic road lined with trees. Seen multiple deer while running.
If in the Colonial Heights area and want a very nice place to get some miles in, make sure to visit this park.

Some areas are not well kept, but that being said, I did have fun and it is a great ride through the woods. A bit confusing at some points but with gps or a map from the visitor center (I had gps) you can figure it out.

The first three quarters of the hike were ok. In some spots the trail was unkept and you have to go through so brush but not terrible. The trees are well marked as well and at a good interval. When you get to the section of White Oak and Courthouse road don't go in. The trail is non existent save for marked trees and you are wading through brush and spider webs the entire time.

Pros: Great looking scenery, truly feel deep in the woods on this one. No noises from outside world. 95% of trail is pine needles for roadbed. I mountain biked the trail. This was a fun trail overall. Marked well.
Cons: I felt it was marked well, but very confusing. If I didnt have my map from alltrails I would have been lost for sure. Trail is supposed to be a bhike trail, however the section (2miles) from courthouse rd to Courthouse rd gets progressively worse to the point that it was not passable biking. I had to walk the bike from White Oak Rd to Courthouse Rd.

Very overgrown. The recent rain has made it pretty water slogged. The house is very spooky and unkempt. We didn't even stop there for the lunch we brought but opted to just go back to the car and eat. I hope it gets more maintenance. It's in a great spot.

Great clean trails, well marked. I suggest getting a trail map at the welcome center because of all of the intertwining trail segment names.
