Nice little 2 mile trail. It initially goes over a bridge with a pretty lake and the rest is wooded. Plenty of deer and there’s some civil war history to be seen.

Not many earthworks sights to see along this trail but still a descent part of a hiking trip.

Nice hike through civil war history. The earthworks are amazing to see and learning about the history is awe inspiring. Great views of the reservoir.

good trail to work on endurance base and cadence. had to cut short because of time.

Beautiful scenery including a great view of the water. Trail was easy to follow, flat, and mostly clear of debris. If you go in the winter be sure to dress warm. The wind was pretty strong, especially near the water. We even saw a few deer.

A beautiful loop trail with lots of woods and swamp. Very few people on it the day I walked it. I have suggested an edit as the map shown is wrong and doesn't even include the trail. You can see my recording below and pics to find the trail. It's worth the walk...

Easy ride, plus access to even more miles in the Yorktown battlefield roads

This is a beautiful trail, the trails are not lakside loop though. You start at the visiters center and go around the wayside back to the fishing area. From there on down the lakeside to the trail head. Then White Oak trail and back to the visiters center. It's a good little walk,I loved it...Igave it a 4 because I did not know it was a few trails together and not marked Lakeside Loop...But it is a beautiful trail.

Beautiful little trail from white oak to bikeway trail. Very nice for a evening stroll. ..

This trail was nicely wooded once I got away from the road. The water was beautiful! It was very condensed and windy, though. While it might take 10 steps to go directly from point A to point B, I was going around 4 curves and taking about 50 steps before I got there. I passed other walkers, only to see them 2-3 more times in the same 5 min span.

A Beautiful little short trail. Has some very nice woodland as well as lake views. I highly recommend trail this for a short walk in the park...

I really enjoyed this trail. It got out in the woods more than many in the park. This is one of my favorites for a close by trail.

Great way to get the exercise and see beautiful scenery and history. I bring my grandson here and he feel free to roam and explore!

4 stars for views
3.5 stars for crowds (2 stars for perceived safety, if your hiking alone...ladies)
4.5 stars for city/hwy noise

At 7,712 acres, and 30 miles of trails, this is my favorite local area to hike. Plenty of seclusion if hiking for distance. Almost guaranteed to see deer. Especially lots of newborn fawn in late spring. See earthen Civil War fortifications, as well as Washington's Headquarters.

The trails are mostly flat and well kept.

Love this park for a nice local walk. There is SO much wild life, and the aren't timid! I really enjoy the white oak trail. (I think thats the name?) My pug can do most the trails here, so its great for beginners!

This is a beautiful park. And all the wildlife sometimes come right up to you. I see a lot more here than I do any other place in Hampton Roads area. Its so peaceful. Not as many people as FLSP. The park is in the front and further back is a golf course. It has a camp ground and quite a few kid playing areas. And there are plenty of options for trails. The animals make it +++ and the water views.

Pro: the bathrooms are always clean and open. And the rangers really make you feel safe since they are always there. The fire dept is right at the beginning of the park. So its a quieter park but they make it feel safe.

Cons: there are no real cons about the the park. I am a runner and I go early in the morning. There are no lights. its plain dark and go with a headlight. It can be a little creepy if your not used to that. IE - Me. Elevation is minimal but they have small foot rolling hills.

Could have been tougher

The bike path is flat so it was great for my knees, which don't run well on roots and steps and such. Really well kept, the Rangers around make it feel safe. Tons of wildlife though, saw a snake and a bunch of critters as well as about a million horse flies, so be careful!
