first time on this trail today after getting a positive tip from a friend. A bit longish but wanted to get the full effect. My 10 year old Beagle loved it too!

Few down trees. One you have to step over and one that hanging low overhead. This is one of my favorite trails!

Nice easy hike, well maintained trails.

Hiked this trail for the 2nd time today and realized I’ve been hiking in the opposite flow. Next time I’ll be sure to go the “right way” I truly believe the right way is easier. Parts of the trail has loose rocks so watch your footing. Nice scenic trail. Hubby and I Did this trail after work today and it got dark on us. Creepy but an exciting adventure!

Easy to moderate hike up to the Star. Easy down. Very well maintained and clearly marked trail.

Great scenic and easy trail. Loose rock in the trail offered a challenge at times. Keep your eye out for the trails markers to stay on track. Take water and maybe a snack. We did this trail on a Thursday evening after the workday which was fine but we ended up picking up the pace to finish before sundown. The next time I’ll plan a early Saturday morning hike here.

A good little hike. But we got lost at one of the points where it comes out to the road! It didn’t say where to go so we accidentally hiked 7 miles instead of 5.5. Having this app helped is figure it out. Just be careful, take water, and this app :)

Best open woodland views start at 1.5 miles in. Good trail for a summer morning as it's in shade. Finished in 2 hours 10 minutes.

Paved Trail. Perfect for casual to good work out style bike ride. Pedestrian traffic on trail but not bad. Use etiquette and let pedestrians know your passing on their left. Week-Ends can be crowded and tough to ride during the day Go early morning or late afternoon after the crowds go home.

Had a chance to run this trail yesterday. It was very well maintained. I missed a switch, but I realized later that it was very clearly marked and I just wasn’t paying attention. Trail also wasn’t terribly busy, I ran it twice and only saw a handful of people. I did see a few deer and the 4 foot black snake which made the run a little more exciting. All and all, I recommend this trail and will definitely be tracking a lot of training runs here.

It was fine. A quick easy hike with a little bit of elevation if you’re looking for some exercise around Roanoke. Views average.

thus trail starts as an easy walk on paved way leads to well marked blue trail w open woods and mossy stones to add to the scenery. A cool cobweb illuminated high above the trail and a doe crossing cautiously were the best viewings. at the end a road is visible& audible taking away from the feeling of being alone with nature. The turn around pt. for me was that road. instead of crossing and cont. downhill I turned fir the steep well marked, and worn paved trail uphill. it was only a 20 minute back track to the reward of a breeze and veiw at Star Mt. monument. several othe day walkers,a dew other hikers made for a good day . ut covered well and also can get a slight breeze on most of the trail. easy ,free parking ,zoo and sm shop and clean bathrooms available during park hrs.

Steady, uphill trail. Great view of Roanoke at the top. Went on Thursday afternoon and only saw 6 other people. It is a rocky trail at points with unsteady footing.

One big hill, but overall an easy ride along the Ronoake river.

Definitely a good workout. Be careful of tree roots and the trails that only have rocks. Hraring the nature was amazing. Some of the trails do have a small walkway which can be a problem when you are passing someone.

The trail is full of rocks, tree limbs and steep inclinations. It took us roughly an hour and a half to go up and back down. The views from the star at the top were great and we didn't encounter any snakes, overall, a nice beginner's trail!
