nice close to Roanoke. I was surprised at the options, many trail combinations. you can hike from 2 to 5 miles. under growth was pretty thick in places. nothing special to see, but for an easy short hike, near Roanoke, to just get out it's great.

So lovely and peaceful for easy walking through the trees. One of my favorites.

The trails are well build and gradual. I went in late winter and the leaves were built up quite a lot.

Nice hike. No big views but nice trail thru the woods. I will say the trails are not particularly well marked and the map doesn’t reflect all the intersections you’ll come across.

A friend of mine had her car window smashed and purse stole from under her seat last week in the parking lot. Be careful

I love the versatility of this trail. I live in the area so I know of short cuts when I don’t have a lot of time. There have been many bear sightings of recent, so be aware.

Overhead canopy kept us cool on a warm summer day. Missed a turn and added an extra mile to our hike. Best to keep an eye on gps. Nice hike.

An easy trail to hike or trail run. It's easy to hike it as a long or short loop.

Love this short but sweet trail! Not too rigorous but enough to give you a good workout. I'm glad that dogs are allowed and all of the ones I have encountered were very well behaved however I do wish that the owners would clean up their dog poop that's left right in the middle of the trail! I don't want that in my hiking boot treads!

Took my two dogs running. Total loop is 5.4 miles. Awesome trail. First time on it and very scenic. Ran in October when the leaves were starting to change. Easy red markers to follow.

Pretty trail! The whole loop is 5.4 miles. Lots of flowers and pretty scenery along the trail. Easy and feels like your a lot further out of town than you are.

The entrance to the Chestnut Ridge Loop Trail is located at MP 120.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take the Mill Mountain Parkway for about a mile and parking for the trail is on the right. Bathrooms are available at the Mill Mountain Visitor's center at the top of Mill Mountain. This trail is a local favorite for trail running.

This place is surprisingly nice for the locale and fast becomeing one of my go-to spots due to it's location so close to my home, and to everything else. Dog friendly and the trials are both wide in most places, as well as sparsely populatd.

I believe this is the chestnut ridge trail which you can access via the parkway, Yellow Mountain Rd or from South Roanoke at Fern Park. Its a nice easy hike but extremely accessible. The nature trail spilt off is worth checking out. Dog friendly and surprisingly not crowd considering location.

Great network of trails along the Roanoke River through Salem and Roanoke.
Good fishing along the way also.

A nice, easy hike that is close to downtown. It's nothing spectacular, but this is great for a quick stroll in the woods. I'm not sure, but I think this may actually be called chestnut ridge loop.

This is a great paved bike walk ride beside the the Roanoke river, our 6 year old learned to ride with training wheels on this trail.
