Must do for anyone who loves Civil War history like myself. Tons of history markers that gives you a feel of how the battle played out. Great park with a really nice vistors center.

Nice place for an easy hike (bike are not allowed) in the middle of the summer make sure to check yourself for ticks they are all over stay on the trail for best chance of not taking some home, great place to visit .

This was an ok hike. We went on an extremely hot and humid day and didn't realize how exposed we would be during the 6.2 miles. Definitely would have enjoyed this hike more if it wasn't so hot. You did have a couple road crossings and it had just rained so the trail was muddy in quite a few areas.

I brought my 12 year old and 5 year old with me. Both had a blast and were able to walk the entire way without trouble. Paths were clean and cleared. Just follow the blue markers.

As peaceful as it is, we got covered in ticks. Half of the trail isn't paved nor landscaped. You have to cross a major road at one point after the historical landmarks.

this is a great day hike with a lot of tree coverage. some of the other side trails on the map may not be accurate, but the one highlighted here is definitely there.

be aware that the trail loop closest to route 29 had a LOT of mosquitos when we were there on a mid June morning. if we had known this we would've skipped that part and backtracked to another trail.

Great trail. i took my daughters on a weekday expecting to have the trail to ourselves, however there were a surprising number of other hikers and runners. the trail is easy to follow, but not well marked. we did get side tracked a couple of times. there are a couple of benches along the route. LOTS of fallen trees, but the path is well maintained. i don't think fires are allowed, so I brought a little alcohol stove and cooked up some lunch. there were other picknickers along the way as well. we did pass a mountain biker even though there are signs everywhere saying no cycling.

11/10 would visit again.

This isn’t a place to ride bikes at all.

Good trail, easy walk or run with couple of cross main road.

Great easy trail with many different views(forest, field of reeds, river, wide field and historic scenes).

Peaceful hike! Not terribly muddy considering the recent rainy weather. Trail is easy to follow!

A decent walk through great history. The views are nothing special, but the distance makes for good exercise, the historical buildings, battle site, and the bridge along the path make this a great half day walk in the DC area.

Pretty rolling hills. Taking in the historical exhibits is the best part.

one of my favorite places I have ever ran.

I really enjoy the trails at Manassas. Great place to take the dog on a weekend.

Keep in mind, the trail is around a historic battlefield. Given that it is a battlefield, it is mostly cleared, with not that many trees. But it is beautiful, hilly, and with the mountains off in the horizon. It can be hard to distinguish the path from the hills because it is a flattened grass trail to preserve the original look. The nearby roads are also unfortunately a bit loud and an eyesore.

Favorite battlefield hike there is. Highly recommend.

Good trail and excellent history along the way. However, signage needs some upgrading. I would have taken many wrong turns ( and took at least one) if I had not stopped to get a trail map. Overall though excellent hike and I will be back.

Pretty cool trail if you like the history behind if. As well as very scenic

I would reccomend the first battle loop first then this. This is a good easy run, and just ok for a hike. The road crossings and ares the trail is connected via the roadways becomes a bit annoying. I would much rather stay on trail the entire time. It offers good views, nice monuments and some beautiful wild life.

this is a great walk or run. I frequently run this loop starting out at the stone bridge and heading out towards matthews hill. Good up and down hills along this stretch. Wooded and open areas. only two street crossings. Several streams, and wild life along this trail. Great during sunset.

?? Most of these pictures are not the unfinished rail road. Also the unfinished railroad is not this long. Looks like a nice out and back but not the unfinished rail road trail, its apart of the deep cut, first manassas trail, unfinished rail road, and a few others.

From highway, drive past Visitors Center, after light there's a parking lot on right. Matthews Hill is a Nice easy trail, You can follow the horse trail as well, but there's a point where you have to cross a creek 2x on the horse trail and your feet will get wet.

is this a marked trail or just a course someone uploaded?

I loved the history as well as the forested area of the trail. I agree that it was a moderate trail. For a newbie this trail was great for us "beginners". I'll do it again at a later time

Great hike! We could only go .5 mile and then turn back to make it a total mile. (Rehabbing from 2 hip replacements)

Loved it so much! A great trail for beginners and for those who don't want to do anything too strenuous but still want to be surrounded by nature. The trail is pretty easy and fast paced but so beautiful!
