Nice, short hike. Little cascades along the river are beautiful! Lots of water for pets and places to cool off in the water. There is an entrance fee to the park - $7.00 for non- Virginia residents, and $5.00 for residents .

A lot of reward for very little effort is the best way to put this. It's a simple little hike with some pretty good views considering how easy they are to get to.

From an elevation standpoint this is definitely a moderate rating but when you factor in the roots and the rocks it makes this hike much more difficult.

Great trail to get in your daily jog! I ran along the trail for about three miles from Abingdon then turned around. Terrain was flat with gravel / hard pack soil that was a little damp from recent heavy rains. Views of farms, streams, and forest were nice. There were hardly any people on the trail when I was jogging around 9AM on a weekday.

Easy, fun little hike. Gorgeous views!

could be marked better but fun visit

Loved it!! Was a little cold the day we went but will definitely do this again...when it’s warmer! Easy downhill ride from Whitetop to Damascus. Beautiful views along the river with many places to stop and take pictures.

Nice trail. Not too long or difficult, beautiful falls.

on Cabin Creek Trail

Love this day hike trail and have shared it with many friends. Got surprised on our last hike as we found ourselves in 2 “ - 8” of snow that had fallen earlier in the week. My husband caught the most beautiful wild brookie in a pool on Cabin Creek during a hike last year.

Loved it, done it three or four times all seasons.

Relatively easy hike with two main overlooks. We came here with heavy fog. Even though we couldn’t see the distant scenery, it was quite enjoyable. The bigger pinnacle has steep stones that make a stairway up to the top which may be a little more difficult. This can be bypassed if too much. Simple 1.6 mile loop hike that’s starts and finishes at the visitor center. Well worth it.

easy trail to walk. I start from the Abingdon side and walk until I'm getting tired and turn around. nice wide path for walkers and bicyclists.

Biked this trail several years ago in the fall and intend to go back! Beautiful and you pass through many old train tressels along the way.

Love this trail! I have biked it 4 times and will do it again.

This bike ride is awesome. Rent a bike and catch a ride to the top and just coast off the mountain on this beautiful trail. Stop at the little old train depot, too. the ladies working in there are very informative and super nice!

The views include woods, rock outcroppings, and farm land. Love all of the trestles. Easy, fun ride.

loved this little trail.

Amazing views. We rented a bicycle and we were dropped off at the top end of the trail. All you had to do was just sit on the bike and the slope does the rest. There is a nice little restaurant as well on you way. To me the best part of the experience was the amazing views.

Can't wait to go back and hike some more!
Loved eating the wild blackberries on the trail!

Words cannot explain this place...... it's a must see !!

Beautiful high county nothing to steep but still vary rock and awesome the ponies are cool some are friendly and some not so friendly but it's beautiful and I highly recommend it

Best Trail - anyone can do it. This first 11 miles or so are all down hill!! (pretty much just coasting!) and then flater land. This is an awesome adventure - totally worth it!!

Fun hike with amazing campsites and views.

Beautiful Well kept State Park. There was a $7 fee to enter the park. We parked at Massie Gap parking area. Used the Rhododendron Trail,The trail is in very good condition but lookout for the manure! Got to see several of the ponies..that made the trip worthwhile. The trail is listed as moderate but actually I thought that it was quite easy. I went on past where the Rhododendron trail ends to just beyond where the AT crosses. The area is quite beautiful would like to come back and do more exploring

Great hike. Loved the ponies and the views along the way.

Spectacular views during our hike. Trails were pretty easy to hike and the trails up Mt Rodgers was amazing with a bonus of seeing wild ponies. We also camped at their campsite and the staff and other campers were all welcoming and super friendly. I highly recommend visiting this park you will not be disappointed. Caution to more of the adventures out there if you attempt to climb the waterfall on the Cabin creek trail be careful as the rocks are super slippery.....enjoy.
