This trail was such fun. Absolutely go clockwise. The multiple little falls along the path are fabulous. Will repeat this hike.

Nice hour home with good views from each of the twin pinnacles. Minor scrambles on an otherwise easy trail. Start behind visitors center

Great trail.

Going in late October was magical...

Loved it. The kids, ages 12 & 15, loved it too. Saw ponies. Enjoyed that it involved a piece of the AT.

nice trail to walk..when taking a friend whom is starting to see the outdoors for the first time.allvthr conveniences

The AT section is very rocky with rock scrambles and bouldering! Beautiful views, technical hike!

We actually walked the Horse Trail trying to get to The Wilbur Ridge Trail but it was so windy and cold we turned around and came back before we got to it so that is why I gave 3 stars. We’ll try again tomorrow. Also my phone is quitting so it isn’t recorded correctly. We completed Wilbur Ridge the next day.

I chose this trail for a trail run. It was a bit rocky and rooty in some spots, but overall good. If you want to see wild ponies away from the crowds, this is a great spot. Beautiful views along the way, and a few water sources.

First hike in VA from NH! Was beautiful!

Hike was a lot of fun. A lot to see up there even in foggy conditions.

There were very nice views. We saw several wild ponies. The ponies didn’t pay any attention to us, very calm. They were standing around grazing. The trails lined in rhododendrons. I think this would be beautiful in the spring time when they are in bloom. This was a very easy trail, but rocky.

Beautiful place! Best part was seeing all the wild ponies!

Excellent trail to warm up on, don't know who rated this trail as difficult, if call it moderate. Amazing view at Buzzard Rock, lots of very cool rock out croppings. Really enjoyed this trail.

Zero horse poop-someone took a wrong turn onto the horse trail if they saw poop. ;) Amazing hike. Trailhead next to the bathrooms at Massie gap. It’s beautiful-green and pretty. Clockwise is a must. Our dog did well-he’s young and athletic. Dry when we went-Not much mud and the falls were small but there. Hardest scramble is up next to the base of the falls. After that it’s easy. Walking stick very helpful on the climbing parts. Plenty of larger flat rocks on the stream to have a snack, decent number of trout in pools despite low water levels. Worth the effort!!

Love this trail. Did it with my dachshunds and German shepherd-we all enjoyed it. It’s rocky in places and goes through some balds as well as forests! The ponies are often close by, and on a clear morning the views of the surrounding mountains can’t be beaten. Wonderful trail!
