Better than expected. It’s a casual walk through the trees along a reservoir. Needed to take the dog out for a longer walk to stretch his legs. I can see this as an awesome running path as well, but it’s a bit muddy for a few days after rain.

Nice and easy trail in Ashburn

Awesome trail. Never seen anything like it before. I am definitely coming back since I didn't have time to finish. It's a little tricky to find though.

Well used/well marked trail with nice views of the reservoir. Several muddy spots even when it hasn’t rained in a while. Peaceful on a weekday!

Bonus hike with Justin and JB. not crowded, great weather, adventuring.

Narrow trails. If you go with others you’ll be walking in a line all the way

Nice trail in great shape. Easy to follow. I took the blacktop path from the baseball fields park lot(By NPRA building, left of fields) to the first right dirt trail marked by a wooden pole with blue trail medallion. Dirt trail was smooth, clean and flat all the way to the reservoir dam. I followed the most used dirt trail closet to the water. When I crossed over a gravel parking lot halfway I went straight, which was off the trail by mistake through a grassy area. I could see how someone might think this part of the main trail wasn't kept up but again, this is not the real trail. I followed a "squirrel dirt trail" over some rocks with graffiti which lead me back to the main trail. I've hiked almost all the trails in NOVA and I was very surprised how this trail was such a secret. Planning to comeback and do a full loop of the reservoir. Reservoir was 1/3 full but still a nice view. Sunset over the water was beautiful and I noticed many bass striking the surface. FYI- Still no fishing or boating allowed. No swimming or hunting signs permanently posted.

It's nice but a bit overgrown i guess since they closed it down. like any place that doesn't have any services to clean up there is a good bit of glass from kids partying out there. also since it is closed the parking is gated off but there is some parking out side and there is a church nextdoor. i have parked there but on a Sunday they might get mad, but they haven't said anything to me yet.

I went their with my kids but the gates were closed at 1pm on a Friday afternoon . Tried to access it from the Edgar Tillet Park but the area was too wooded.

Nice trail, but since it's so close to the baseball fields and housing developments the trail is littered with broken beer bottles. be carful if you have kids or dogs.

First half of the hike was pretty decent but once you cross the parking area into the 2nd section it’s overgrown and narrow, thicker than the 1st half so not much to see.

What a disappointment! Based on the name of this Loudon county Park (and their website pictures), I thought that I'd be walking a wooded trail next to the reservoir; yet this was far from the case as less than a 1/4 pf the reservoir had water in it, and in fact, has been dried up for some time though the county in March 2019 boasts about having opening delays due to heavy rains and latent construction. I don't understand? Has someone not checked the reservoir lately? I even found abandoned row boats deteriorating in the woods nearby indicating that someone's not dealing in reality. Heads up: the No Swimming signs are not really needed. Update: Just spoke to a local who said that the county is filling up the dam naturally. I'm sure it will be beautiful one of these years, until then make sure thay youre not dupped by the waterway pictures.

This is a very easy trail that is decent for beginners. There really aren't amazing views to be had but it is an enjoyable stroll through nature. The trail isn't well maintained other than by foot traffic. Unfortunately, when you get to the end of the trail there is a small loop which puts you on the same way back that you came. Finally, wait till the colder months as the trail was rittled with bugs that will annoy and harass you throughout the trail.

Saw a snake here, come prepared. just a bit muddy. The water bodies around the area has dried up. The greenery is decent.

Pretty muddy and lots bugs. Much better to just come hang out by the reservoir and scrap the hike.
