Sunrise Hike . 1st Frost of the Fall. Trail was dry

The trail and overlook we're nice. It had rained the night before, and that created a lot of mud at the bottom part of the trail. Unfortunately some of the ladies that came hiking with me had their vehicles broken into. One with a crowbar. One left their door unlocked. The police are aware of the issue. Don't leave valuables in your car.

Nice place for hiking. Clean, trails are nice. Beautiful overlook.

Nice trail early morning hike

This is a great hike with a great view. I took my dog for his first hike and he loved it. The only downfall I found is that the overlook gets very crowded with kids and it can be hard to enjoy. Get there by 8am to really enjoy the hike and view.

nice short easy trail with some rocky areas and a fantastic view

Great small hike for all ages. The trail is a bit rocky but not steep. The view at the top is great!

Hiked this on a holiday weekday during the summer and it was definitely one of the toughest hikes I've experienced in the area. If you're looking for spectacular views, skip this and go across Route 7 to Raven Rock which is much shorter and offers great views. This hike was a continuous up and down ascent-descent and offered a great workout. Make sure to bring enough water--this is the only hike I drank all 3L of water in my hydration pack. The climbs are challenging, and there are a few streams to cross that offered a much needed break and water to drench your head in--these are what made this hike tolerable on a 90+ deg summer day.

All in all, great work out and will go back again (on a cooler day). I question the moderate rating on All Trails though, I would categorize this as "hard" compared to the other moderate-rated trails on here.

Good trail with my 3 year old walking and my 1 year old on my back.

Nice panaromic views. Enjoy coming during week, mid morning, less foot traffic.

This is a great hike for young children, but calling this anything beyond a walk is a definite stretch.

beautiful view once you get to the top.

Well maintained trail with great views. Easy to extend your hike as it runs into the AT near the top.

Had fun with daughter. Not hard just rough terrain. Watch your step.

Nice view from the overlook, trail well maintained

Great overlook, but the trail to me was just okay.

The view was great and worth the hike. The trails aren't very well marked but if you follow the trail back the way you came you should be fine. There is a lower lot right off 7 (free but longer) and one higher off 601 ($3 and short or medium). We took the scenic short route through the woods straight ahead from the parking lot up but we took another way back down that did not lead back to the upper lot...don't make this mistake. Beautiful and worth it!

Short hike (20 min) up to Bear 's Den Overlook on the Appalachian Trail. From the overlook you look across the Shenandoah River into West Virginia out to Winchester. Rocky overlook with sweeping view of the countryside.

We did 2 miles in and 2 miles back to get more of a workout. The views are outstanding from the overlook.

Enjoyable trail to a spectacular view towards the west. I found the hike to be easy while the trail was moderate as it was rocky in some stretches
