Barr Hill Nature Preserve is a beautiful place. The access road is treacherous and would not have been passable without AWD and plenty of ground clearance. There is a small parking area at the entrance, so walking the extra distance is an option. But it is the snow plow turnaround, so it cannot be used during the winter months. It's a steep climb to the preserve, but once there, it is easy walking with fabulous views. Well worth visiting!

Returned July 2013 and the road up to the trailhead was pretty treacherous, washed out by recent heavy rains. We were able to make it to the trailhead with all-wheel SUV. Well worth it once up to the top!

Nice hike along low mountain ridge. Easy with only few uneven areas. Well maintained. Great for families.
