Well, I attempted to record my hike but I couldn’t see the map well on record. There isn’t a particular made trail for this (at least not one that I found) and we climbed some rocks and a tree branch to get to the final destination. It was worth it!!

Paved trail with river access and amazing views of Zion. Dog friendly. Bring sunscreen and bug spray, also a camera! Follow me on Instagram @nathan_vanengen for photos and fun unknown adventures.

Loved this hike. We went early to avoid crowd and the heat. We got to see some mountain goats which was very cool. View was amazing.

Hey there runners, if you start from the South Campgrounds and turn around at the Canyon Junction underpass, it's exactly a 5k!

The first/last mile is decent. But the view on the loop is well worth it. Come early to avoid the crowd. (They generally start around 8am)

By far our favorite thing at the Zion! I went Thursday morning at 5:30 a.m. by myself and lined up to get in. It was pitch black but I found other cars parked ahead of me waiting as well. Parking lot at the trailhead might hold about 30 cars, I'm not quite sure. Walked the trail at sunrise and it's absolutely gorgeous. Later that day, around 5:30 p.m. they began letting cars go up again as it was completely full about 30 minutes after I arrived earlier that morning. My teen boys absolutely loved getting in the water and walking a ways through the river. It is truly that awesome! Water is very cold and the current was fast in several spots. We had flimsy water shoes knowing we weren't going to do a whole lot of walking through the Narrows. We were fine for about an hour, then pretty chilled. Would recommend for older children, not young kids due to the fast current. At times the water is waist deep on a 6 foot adult. If you're debating on whether to do it my answer is YES! It was an amazing experience!

Nice views, easy climb :)

Great easy trail! We went to the river access and our doggie took a swim! Recommend for the entire family!

Worth it. For sure.

Beautiful hike, wonderful views at the top. My friend and I only made it to Hepworth due to time restrictions. Outside of the dried river path in the canyon, there is no clear path so downloading a map is a must. The tips shown on the map were super helpful with some spots where we weren’t sure how to traverse. No climbing gear needed, but hiking shoes with a good grip for all the slick rock is definitely necessary. Also, apparently this hike is actually closed currently for COVID-19 reasons, and we were yelled at by a park ranger at the East tunnel gate when we got out. The guys at the info center in Zion said otherwise but oh well. Hope people can get back to this trail soon.

It’s hard for me to trash a trail. I gave it a 4...but this could’ve easily been a 3. First issue: Distance is inaccurate. Clocked 17.5 and I did the entire loop. Second: Following the West rim leads to some badass views! You’re exposed to the sun the entire time though! Be prepared Third: I wouldn’t recommend continuing too far into the west rim trail after you reach the top of the Mesa. Telephone Canyon is simply NOT worth the effort. And apparently most people know this..,the trail is really overgrown in many many spots.

I can’t begin to say how disappointed I am at this “dog-friendly trail”. The ONLY dog-friendly trail in this whole park and it’s black asphalt lava lane. It does have a River your dog can go in which is also loaded with children and adults but no paths to walk beside it. So you are stuck to a trail that your dog can’t walk on between the lava, sand spurs getting caught in their paws and what I can mean wheat which are like little daggers to skin. I was very much looking forward to this trail but found it unbearable for my dog 10 minutes in. And bc Zion doesn’t allow u to bring ur dog anywhere else (even on lead) we drove for 2 days and can’t experience this beautiful place.

Beautiful hike! We left in the morning which was perfect-by 10am it was getting warm and more crowded on the trail. Easy with great views of the park for what’s open right now!

Such a pretty trail! Came early before the crowds. Plenty of parking. Very easy for kids/older folks. We loved it!

5/28/20 The road to this hike is closed

We walked about 6 miles in and it was totally worth it although it does get hard- you’ll have to climb rocks/waterfalls to keep going. Would definitely do it again!

INACURATE. I'm giving this 2 stars only for the fact that this description is entirely misleading. 3 of us with Garmin devices clocked 14mi just from the beginning of this trail to the split of Telephonic and West Rim, at the Spring and back. There is no way we would have been any less than 18 miles had we done the telephonic/WR loop at the top. The views from the spring were great, but for the energy expenditure your best bet is to follow other recommendations, and stop at Walter wiggles. If you can manage the difficult trail with long stretches of direct sun, it's an excellent calorie burn and a great experience. If your time at Zion is limited, cut this short and fit in other things.

Great little hike. You can follow the trail or there are a few bouldering side options along the trail. Water is mostly dried up now but there are a few spots with some trapped water. Shade and sunny mixed along the trail. The further you go up the trail the more water you’ll find. Open but busy on weekends.
