Amazing variety of water fowl that number in the 100’s of thousands!! So many flying feathered critters this time of year!

A very easy drive. Dusty at times. We seen a few of the migratory birds. We will likely do this again to see more different species of birds.

This was a neat little scenic drive loop on a Sunday afternoon. There were several hunters out but still a mostly peaceful excursion through the marshlands. Saw a few sandhill cranes and some other birds as well.

Soooo many birds. Saw a muskrat or a beaver as well. If you go in fall you will catch a lot of migrating birds. Also a great place to see the sunset reflect over the lake. The road was well maintained.

Such a fun drive with the kids.

Great for kids. It is by the freeway so you dont get a total secluded feel, but it is great for wild life. We have seen awesome birds, deer, a fox, racoon, etc. Cute little museum too. Highly recommend for the mom or family who wants to get away for a few hours. Easy to find, paved path, so great for a stroller.

Amazing walk, spotted blue herons, red winged black birds, ibises, egrets, white Pelicans, a few king fishers, several species of ducks, Canadian geese and many other species I probably can't name! Word of advise this time of the year need to bring lots of bug spray

Stopped by here to stretch our legs and take a break as we traveled North. It was cold and foggy and I am sure the birds were keeping out of the weather. The loop is paved and very scenic.
I was impressed with the educational center and the staff. Plan to come back when the weather is more acclimate for bird watching. It seems like a great place for a family outing, they have lots of interactive displays and kid friendly activities.

This is a very relaxing drive and a couple of observation decks along the way to get above the wet lands and see how far the refuge stretches.
