Still lots of snow on the trail, making it hard to follow. The lake is still pretty frozen. I imagine this hike will be a lot more fun and much prettier in a couple more weeks.

Did this yesterday. Last half snow about 2-3 feet all the way to the lake. still doable in just hiking boots.

Very steep with some Icy parts glad we had our micro spikes. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I loved all the lakes I got to see while doing this hike. So beautiful! I hiked this 10.29.17 and while there was some snow, it was still completely doable. We were up to the peak in 50 minutes and enjoyed the views from the peak.

We did this hike yesterday, fairly easy, saw a lot of families. Some good views and elevation climb is not difficult. This was a good hike for someone like me who is new to the area and getting acclimated to the elevation. Caution: you should bring GPS since trail not well marked and it's easy to get off which we did one time (several others we passed would ask us if still on trail). Also, while probably obvious, this late in fall we did encounter areas of ice/snow so while easy hike, bring appropriate footwear.

Amazing views! Way more snow than expected!

Was looking for an easy hike with the kids. this was easy and great for kids. i give it a 3 because yes your up in the mountains but you walk through the snowbird resort and then along side it. i never saw any signs for this trail. we just followed the gps and then walked around the trails that run along and through the resort mountain. Fine for our group but not a favorite.

What a beautiful afternoon for a fall hike! There won't be many more afternoons like this one at such a high elevation. The trail was covered in golden aspen leaves and the weather was crisp and sunny. The only trouble was the work they've recently done on the service road and in felling trees erased the path. We found it again luckily. And thank heaven for the GPS! We somehow started heading down to a lackluster pond before realizing it wasn't Lake Solitude and we were supposed to be heading up toward the lake instead. In other words, the trail wasn't well marked. But the kids (15, 11, 9, and 7) and I had a great time and enjoyed this hike. We saw so many deer!

Lots of snow and super windy. Not a lot of other people. Dope views!!!!!

Beautiful easy hike. Super muddy today.

There are two ways up from the parking lot. Make sure you take the one on the right, it's longer in distance but has less snow and isn't steep. The trail on the left is steep, icy and snowy (and very beautiful.) Great hike in the fall!

Great shady trail. Just completed this today (September 29th) and the trail was very muddy/slushy and snowpacked in some places. There are actually a few trails to get up to Dog Park. Dogs absolutely love this trail though, especially if they are water dogs because of the lake. Parking can a little crazy and you might have to deal with angry people looking for a parking space.

Shortest hike for the views/summit! This was the first "real" hike I've done. This is where it all began : ). Saw a lot of children/dogs on this trail. A great experience for the family!

Great hike. Gradual incline. Coverage from the sun is a great plus in the summer. a little chilly this time of year so dress accordingly.

Trail was well marked and not difficult or maybe we are just getting acclimated. Beautiful aspen groves that will be gorgeous in about two weeks. Some are just starting to turn gold. There were moose close to Silver Lake and fortunately there was someone there to guide us away as the bull was a little aggressive due to the approaching mating season. Got a glimpse of them but not good enough to photo.

Great trail. Decided to this one because a moose was blocking one of the other ones, dogs loved the lake at the top

Went up for a nice Sunday hike. there's no shade/cover and it's fairly steep ascent so our smaller dog needed a little help coming down. gorgeous views.

This is a great family trail for most abilities and endurance levels. The view from the top will not disappoint. As well, the trail is usually clear after July 4th, but there will still be snow on or near the trail. One thing to keep in mind is weather. Storms can roll in fast while on top of Bald so be cognizant of that. Fantastic family trail!

Enjoyed the shaded trail & depth of the pines!

Excellent hike. I. started the hike at about 3 PM wondering how long it would take to get to the lake with my little Boston terrier. Another fellow hiker informed me that if I took the steeper trail I could get there faster in and out in about 2.5 hours. That is what I did. The hike was a lot steeper than I imagined, it was quite the work out. My dog loved it and so did I, we have been back twice already.

Tips: Dogs off leash on odd days only; $3 park fee upon exit; they accept cash and credit cards.

It lived up to it's reputation.

This hike was so much fun. We made it up in a little under an hour. Spent an hour on top and got down in 45 minutes (I had to take a billion pictures.) You want to do this hike. No picture will do the view any justice. Be careful if you explore the peak (which is huge), the rocks shift around a lot in some areas and they are big enough that it would really suck if one fell on you. We also saw mountain goats!

I loved this hike. You get awesome views of Devils Castle and Sugarloaf from the very beginning. From Cecret Lake I went up between Devils Castle and Sugarloaf. I explored Devils Castle for a bit then walked the ridge up to Sugarloaf. It looked like it was going to be way far but it was really easy to the top. I went down the other side since that is supposed to be the "easy" way. I guess I went the wrong way because I never picked up a trail going down and the loose rocks really sucked. I climbed down a little cliffy area which was really fun and made my way back to the lake. The way I went wouldn't really be suitable for young kids but my 10 year old would have done it just fine. Also, I did this in the evening and it was awesome. The lighting on the rocks was really pretty.
