Best hike with kids in Snow Canyon to date. Fun little side caves, slot-canyon-feel at parts, sand, lava rock, good views. Even sign posts marking vegetation. Would recommend to anyone.

Nice short hike. Park map shows it has slot canyons, but I think that’s a stretch. It’s a steep short hike over rocks at the end. It’s always nice and cool up high, by the red rocks.

Short easy trail. Scrambling up the steep rock to the pioneer names is a blast! There are two points of entry onto the trail. The one where you can see the names from the road is shorter.

I rode my bike on this trail. Depending on the direction you go, it is easier or harder. If you start at the Johnson Canyon trailhead parking area and go north up to the Upper Galoot parking lot through the park, you gain 463 feet according to alltrails. Going back on this same trail, there is only a 49 feet elevation gain. (Time, S to N was 45 min, and N to S only 15 min.) I have both of these as separate recordings in my account here on alltrails. I also rode through the park on the road, which was almost the same challenge up and back, but both with strikingly different views. There is just so much to explore in this park!

I would say if you want to ride bikes on this trail as a family or with people (like me) who may be trying to get back in shape, start at Upper Galoot and go down to Johnson Canyon Trailhead. In case not everyone can go back due to the elevation gain or being tired or too hot (not a lot of shade on the trail, and don't forget water and sunscreen), maybe the strongest biker can bike back (a bit harder to go back in this direction) and shuttle everyone back.

We've done this hike several times and finally thought to bring some headlamps. The caves are nice and cool so if you bring water you will be fine out in the sun. Fun for kids to discover.

This is a quick stop. Take a picture. Continue on type of hike. When I saw images of this I thought it would be awesome but the canyon is very short and that picture is hard to get as it is a popular hike.

Zion is one of my favorite places in Utah but sometimes when visiting St George you need to do something different. Snow canyon is maybe a one day, once only thing but there is some fun hikes. We took our girls to this arch right as the sun was coming down and had beautiful red colors going in, and a nice cool shadow to enjoy the last part of the hike. Not a hike to write home about but a nice walk with the kids.

Short enough even on a hot day. Bring a flashlight/headlamp for the lava tubes. There are 2 which are 100's of feet long into the ground and out of day light. Our 7 year old was more than able to scramble in and the teen's loved it.

It was Really easy going out to the cave but the trail was harder to follow back. We ended up having to bushwhack in order to get back to the trail.

It was totally unlike any hike I’ve ever done. Sorta felt like I was walking on Mars

Does have a few rough steep spots but even my 5 and 3 year old were able to make it to the top with a little bit of help on the slippery areas. They loved being in the volcano and the view is great from the top.

Th perfect hike or those with small children. Once you get to the amphitheater kids love exploring the rocks and playing in the sand. If you go in the summer the sand can get very hot so make sure to go earlier in the day so the kids can still play. So many cool places to take pictures.

Perfect if you have littles. Short, beautiful, and young kids love exploring the little slot canyon. Plus if you go in the summer, the little canyon is completely shaded so you get a little break from the sun.

Good hike that ends with a great view from the peak. Best part is coming down the valley with the brown lava rock on one side, the white sandstone on the other, and the red hills straight ahead.

Easy way to see a slot canyon if you don’t have time for a big trek. Can be in and out in 10 min!

Really fun, scenic hike, easy to get to from the road and well marked. Great scenery for such a short trail. Add a quick side shoot onto Red Sands to the lookout for the best views.

Great adventure for families, and anyone wanting a short hike it’s a sun break. The lave tube were fun and nice cool break from the sun. We climbed down in them and the kids loved it.

Closed for summer 2018. We didn’t get to do it.
