This hike gave us a lot of different scenery through the park. Petrified dunes was awesome however we lost the trail at one point because the markers are too far apart. Still an amazing hike

We did this trail after a very long day of hiking and it was the perfect way to end. As said, the hike is fairly easy, but the lava tubes are spectacular. At the end of the butterfly trail, the path splits into two if you go left you'll hit a massive lava tube that you can explore easily (with flashlights) to the right is a smaller tube, if you're little you can still crawl in a ways, but cool to look at regardless.

A great end to the day!

This trail is a blast! Well marked, lots of elevation change and pretty views, as well as many opportunities for scrambling and going off the path. Not too long but connects to many other great trails. Look out for the overlook (just off this trail) - provides stunning views and a fun little climb.

Remember to bring lots of water - there's very little coverage and there are strenuous bits.

Decent trail for hiking. Somewhat of a rough trail as you come to the top. I actually did some trail running on this trail. Great for hill training. Awesome views of Snow Canyon.

Beautiful trail with lots of sandstone to climb on. We started here and then headed toward Butterfly trail and got to experience so many different kinds of terrain from sand to volcano tubes there was not one bad place for a picture; just stunning.

The hike itself was okay, but the lava tube was AMAZING! We will definitely be back again—next time with headlamps!
When you get to the T in the trail, the lava tube is 100 meters down the left fork of the Lava Tube Trail.

The kids absolutely loved hiking around and playing in the sand. My senior parents were able to make the short trek with us, and sat watching the grandkids play. We will definitely be back!

We love this hike. It’s a regular for us. It’s beautiful. But it’s really popular so arrive early. We got in at 7:30 am and had the whole trail to ourselves. By the time we left the little parking lot was full.

I didn't go on any trails. Started at the North entrance and hiked through all the rocks and everything to the South entrance. Loved it.

We went left at the fork. Easy, short walk to the overlook. The white rocks are beautifully contrasted by the red rocks in the distance. Parts of the trail are a bit sandy.

Great hike with so many different landscapes. Petrified dunes section was amazing!

The views could not be better. The first mile and a half is forgettable but after that was enjoyable, fun, and soul inspiring. First part is mostly rock and dirt, then dirt and sand, then slip rock, and then mostly sand to the overview of Ivins and the lower Snow Canyon. If you plan on doing an out and back be in good shape or make sure you have plenty of time, probably both! In my case, I planned on it but ran out of time and would have been dragging by the time I got back.

Great trail one day is not enough to explore everything.

Beautiful scenery!

Very easy to get to the amphitheater. Lots of exploring can be done once there so the difficulty depends on you!

First mile is solid. A lot of the Trail is on sand, fits the name. The pools had water so good finish to the trail prior to heading back.

Easy hike with gorgeous slot canyon!

Easy hike with amazing views. Going into the lava tubes is cool but climbing on top of a cool rock structure was probably my favorite though. The view was amazing!

More of a stroll than a hike. Very very short. Worth the few minutes of walking though!

This trail does NOT allow dogs, despite the AllTrails description.

Cool hike, it is an old volcano. Surrounded by a large lava field for exploring also. I had a really good time on this hike as it is very unique and reminded me of Hawaii. Watch out! It is very steep with lots of loose rock I sled down in a couple of spots.

Short hike but a nice trip inside the White Rocks section of Snow Canyon. Once in the belly of the amphitheater, I was intrigued to see if I could get my 280 lbs up the rough, chunky rocks to the pimple dome visible from the road. Thankfully, it’s not all fat and I discovered that scrambling is now my favorite mountain-scape activity. Once I was confident I could retrace my steps down, if necessary, I climbed my way to the top, using the elephant-hide texture to cement my hand holds and steps. The dome sits about 4500’ up, so a modest 300-400’ scramble up from the amphitheater floor but well worth it. Beautiful views into the rest of Snow Canyon and the surrounding peaks. Coming down was challenging, having to hug a couple of edges and correct course but I couldn’t help but let out a holler after getting back to the bottom, simply because it was so incredibly fun. If you’re adventurous and minimalist, throwing down a bag at the top for the night would be a star-gazers paradise, as there are a few small oasis of flat ground with built-up sand and soil.

This trail definitely deserves the moderate rating due to the loose rock that is difficult to climb up and down through. It can be quite slippery, even in a good pair of hiking shoes.

Very fun and a beautiful view of snow canyon from the top.

There are spots in the trail that are obviously shortcuts, and have rocks placed at the bottom to prevent people from using them. To prevent further erosion in that area, please stay on the path and let the vegetation take over and restore that space again.

Wonderful experience! The hike getting to the Lava Tubes is easy to follow. It’s exciting being able to explore the tubes. Bring a flashlight and don’t be afraid to get some dirt on you. There are three tubes that you can explore.

It’s cool because you’re hiking a volcano. It’s an easy trail to follow and offers a wonderful view of Snow Canyon and other Cinder Cones. Walking around the crater and going into the center is a neat experience. Worth doing again. Not the longest trail; however when if you’re short on time it’s perfect.

Fun, kid friendly trail.
