Great trail! You can park at the Amphitheater parking and look for the sign for trailhead access. The first half of the trail is great for all experience levels, the second half of the trail gets quite advanced with beautiful views. Come prepared if you want to do the second half, there is a lot of up and down with fantastic offshoots and some rock climbing. Would recommend!

4 stars for the trail, 5 stars for being able to explore two different lava tube caves - like, bring your headlamp and squeeze around to a few deeper rooms kinda thing. Trail views were really great, red cliffs and white rocks, very sandy in stretches so a little more effort required. I ran into another guy walking to the parking lot north by Whiterock Trail as Inwas walking over 2 miles south after dark back to my starting point and he was very nice and not only gave me a quick ride back to my car but also gave me a Zion National Park pass good for two more days because he was leaving for the Grand Canyon. Great end to the hime

The first part was good on The Butterfly and Lava Trails. The views in this area were good. The lava trail has lava tubes, one of which you can go down into. The easiest way to get down is to stay far to the right under the overhang. I would recommend turning around at this point. Then you can go out to the state road and go in a very short trail to the amphitheater. The White Trail was very sandy and horses had made it very difficult to walk there. Also, It is not as scenic. The amphitheater was very, very crowded the day we were there. People were taking Christmas pictures, engagement pictures and resume pictures. Parents and kids were disagreeing with each other everywhere.

Very easy and beautiful hike. The weather was perfect and it wasn’t too crowded, we went around 1 pm. We would definitely do this again.

Great trail for kids. We took our 6, 4 & almost 2 yr olds and they all loved it. Fun lava rocks to look at and play on. Mostly smooth trail with a few Rocky spots

Great trail- so scenic! We lost the trail many times though so signage could be better. We had a beautiful day weather-wise partly sunny so it was great but I could see how the heat would make this too long of a hike. We really enjoyed our day- definitely recommend!

Sandy! at times Kragen others. Make sure you stick to the left to stay on Johnson. A nice short easy hike for almost any time of day. We went in the winter time, was still gorgeous out there in the sun.

Plenty of lava rocks to walk over and just enough sand to irritate you. The White Rock Amphitheater is always cool to see.
