Awesome. Did it today. Our first winter hike with our dogs. We got to the campground and it was fun to see the outhouses practically covered in snow. Ran into snowmobilers at the campground. Like previously mentioned, snow was too deep, so we walked to where the footprints stopped and turned around.

Great winter hike. I did this one yesterday and the trail was great. Once I got to the campground at the top the snow was too deep.

It's hard for me to even put into words how beautiful this hike is especially in the snow and at sunset. It is almost incomprehensible. Here is a video of the hike and the glorious sunset. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70sMkWI585E

Spike Hiked up on New Year's day. snowshoes are not necessary. packed in Euro sleds to come down. this was a riot. sometimes the trail was too narrow, rocky or steep for the sleds, so we would pick them up and walk a bit. super fun day!

Wonderful winter hike. spikes are perfect right now. We saw a moose on Thursday.

Have done this trail hundreds of times to keep up my cardio for high altitude hikes. I usually hike it three times in a row (three laps).

Hiked today. Brief review: nice hike. Consistent climbing. After the turn off at about 1.7 miles, the next mile is up a wash. Probably the most consistent effort of the hike. After that, the rest of the climb is easier (relatively). Turn off was easy to find. No mud today. It’s likely too cold for mud now.

This was an awesome hike and climb, many off shoot trails and if you go up the peak opposite provides a mix of high incline hiking and moderately difficult rock climbing.

The trail, where it diverges from the Rock Canyon trail, is not marked. Use the map in this app to make sure that you make the left turn at the y in the trail. It is steep, but winds through aspen and other deciduous forest. There were flocks of robins, other small birds, and deer in the woods. Wish I had been here a few weeks earlier when the aspen were bright yellow.

The upper part of the trail is steep and was very muddy from snow melt. The view from the peak is worth the effort.

Awesome Trail.

So glad I made the hike..... Gorgeous scenery and perfect timing for the sunset!!

Very steep and quite the calf workout. Legendary view and if you go at night, it's great to stargaze while laying on the Y.

I read a lot of reviews on here before doing this hike, and they all said it wasn’t that great, but I wanted to do it anyway. IT WAS SO GREAT!!! Especially mid-October, the colors are so beautiful and vibrant, and I loved being up in the trees. The view is amazing, and though it was a pretty challenging hike, it was waaaaay worth it!

Amazing views! This is a very steep trail and although the first 1.1 miles to the “Y” is a little underwhelming, the remaining 2.2 miles to the peak was awesome. Beautiful trails, colorful nature, and leg destroying climbing! I will definitely be running this again. Bombing down from the peak was an absolute blast, just make sure to be loud so people can get out of the way, because there is no way you can stop once you pickup some speed.

The view was a bit disappointing.

Spectacular trail with incredible views of snow covered mountains, trees changing colors for fall. My 7 year old and I hiked to the top of Y mountain and she and I were able to enjoy the wonderful weather and views.

Beautiful in the fall.

Fun hike - gorgeous fall colors! Took us 2 hours up and 1.25 hours back down. Very cool views of rock canyon at the top - surprisingly, not very cold.

Beautiful hike in the fall leaves. Is it steep, but well worth it for the color

I love this hike. It gets super steep at parts. It can be pretty hot in the summer so I like doing it during the fall. The colors on this trail in the fall are out of this world!

A great challenge with a great reward. Hiking this in the fall is a must. 7.5 miles round trip in about 2.5 hours alone. Views of Buffalo Peak, Timpanogos, Rock Canyon and Utah Valley. Make sure you are in shape for this one.

Great hike with an incredible view at the end. Steep and rocky but definitely worth it for the end! Great way to get some killer calves.

Surprised by this hike. Fantastic views at the top — the final 1/2 mile is where it all comes together so stick it out to the end. Not much water in Sept but the maples are turning bright red at the top. Shaded most of the day most of the way. Hung a hammock at the top and read for a few hours, and had it all to myself.

Extremely difficult for little pay off. Hiked this one a number of times and it’s never gotten better

Good trail. Easy to find. Not heavily trafficked. Beautiful view. I’d rate it hard. Pretty steep climbs for a shorter hike.

Great and rewarding hike. The trail was much better once you turn left off into the wooded area around 1.5 miles I believe. Beautiful meadows with butterflies cross crossing the trail all along the way. Excellent work out and views at the top. Very shaded in the morning especially in the forested area.
