Very sandy we went at the start of may and it was pretty hard more because of the sand and there is no shade, I mean it was beautiful and pretty wildflowers just very exhausting, wouldn’t recommend doing with a 1 year old.

It’s a hellhole of a trail to find. Not a marked trail as stated in the reviews. Stay West above the wash unless you want to roam the dry creek bottom.

This trail is technical if you're running. the first mile or so is rocky and hard to maneuver at faster speeds. The second mile or so is sandy with some deeper sand parts. You definitely won't set any 5k records on this trail, but if you feel confident running on technical terrains I definitely recommend it. The views at the top are definitely worth it even if you roll your ankle a few times.

This trail is owned by the Kayenta community they are building there. It instructs you to follow the wash which we found difficult unless you walked in the wash. We were there in early AM and the footsteps above the wash to follow on the outside were not present. Because of that the trail was extremely rocky and took more time. Did see some gray fox, lizards and birds. Some flowers. The waterfall was dried up and we eventually just ran into a giant pile of boulders past the end of the trail that we couldn’t pass. Bring your sunscreen!

Great trail! It is hard to find, but as long as you keep to the west of the wash, you will be close to the trail at all times. Just follow the footsteps and it will take you along the trail. I hiked the wash going out, then came back on the trail itself (which I found on the way back).

Trailhead is easy to find with plenty of parking on the roadside. Chose to hike the wash instead of taking the overland route bc I find it more interesting and I didn’t want to get lost. More rocky than sandy down in the wash and progresses from small river rocks to boulder hopping, and then scrambling by the end. Great views of the canyon walls throughout! Virtually no shade for the first 2/3 of the hike but it gets cooler as you progress up the canyon even at noon. No running water today, just small stagnant pools here and there. Plenty of wildlife to see including hummingbirds, butterflies, toads, rabbits, birds, lizards and tons of tadpoles! Only ran into a handful of people so it was nice and quiet. Decided to scramble up past the natural ending to the trail at the waterfall/slick rock slides and into the more narrow slot above. Kept climbing until it got too sketchy, just to see how far I could get. Really beautiful and remote feeling area and a fun adventure!!!

Wasn’t too hot with the light breeze and hardly anyone on the trail this morning. Very fun!

Not a lot of shade, fun trail but not a lot of water at the end. Try and stay on the upper trail to avoid sand in the wash.

The views on this trail are breathtaking! Saw lots of little frogs and a tarantula.

I couldn’t find the correct trail but followed the app as best I could.. I ended up turning around 1/2 mile before the end because I lost the trail completely. It was gorgeous and I’ll attempt it again soon!

Great trail! We started on the butterfly trail in snow canyon then headed to Deidre Peak. Very easy flat beginning. Once you get to the base of the ridge, the worn trail disappears. You walk in a river bed for a bit then have to find somewhere to start climbing up the rock. The rest is all scrambling up the ridge. Great views. Probably should be comfortable with climbing on rocks and heights. If you are, the scrambling is very fun! The ridge has drops on both sides. Overall would definitely do it again!
