We went to Big Rock and turned around. This is my first time on this convenient, well-used trail. We started in mid-afternoon on a Friday and saw a good mix of cyclists and hikers, with a trio of dirt-bikers at Big Rock. In spite of the narrowness of the trail in places and the number of people, there were nice stretches of solitude, gorgeous views, and nearly universally nice folks who made way for us, slowed down, said thanks, and even shared a few Oreos. It was a lovely afternoon hike with that still-amazing-to-this-out-of-towner Utah magic of being 10 minutes from home but feeling like you’ve left the city behind at times. It was the 27th of September and we saw lots of gorgeous fall color.

Gradual climb to the big rock. Good footing. Shady much of the way. Great view showing how low the water is in Great Salt Lake. Apparently this is due to water diversions, per SL Tribune article.

Great moderate but looong hike! We actually went up another 3 miles to the summer which is underwhelming but the elephant rock stopping point is a great place to enjoy a lunch. The path is well maintained and though there is a variety of traffic everyone’s polite. We saw deer, chipmunks and lots of grasshoppers!

This was a good trail just a little busy for my liking. I went with my sister and her dog and we walked up it and I ran down. it was raining but very manageable in the rain. At the benches you can go down a trail to the rock and I climbed the rock for an awesome view.

I ran this and dubbed it golden doodle park. Never have I seen so many of a single breed. Really nice trail to run. By 8:30 there were loads of hikers and bikers. I’d do this again but start at 6am to avoid trail traffic.

Lots of bike traffic. Tons of dogs. Enjoy it more in the winter.

This trail is a pretty unrelenting climb that will give you a great cardio workout. It is very lightly used - in the three plus hours I was on the trail I didn’t see a soul. The result is thick, beautiful vegetation and wildlife (a herd of deer ran across the trail about 15yds in front of me. There is no water on the trail after you pass Kenny Creek so bring enough for your needs.

Not a bad short trail. One of the log bridges broke today. Shortly after the waterfall the trail was extremely overgrown. So if you continue past the waterfall look for the orange ribbons to mark the trail.

This was a slow incline with switchbacks. Really enjoyable trail! We got to the trail head around noon and the weather was perfect. Please remember to yield to up hill hikers/bikers. Also there isn’t a magic green bag fairy, if your going to bring your dog please clean up after it. The view of bountiful is ok. Very light traffic on a Sunday.

There was two rattlesnakes 0.5 miles up the trail. Otherwise it was quiet and beautiful with lots of shade.

The trail was a little overgrown but over all it was a nice shady hike.

I hiked this trail often with my friend Bruce even with our dirt bikes in high school “scared a lot of hikers” but today after many years my wife and son hiked it and I noticed sparkling diamonds all over the trail (mostly the beginning) funny how now I noticed this time guess I must be smelling the roses more these days!

Good shade, nice trail. Nothing special

I love this trail. It has all the varieties you look for in a hike. Stream, bridges, breathtaking views, and a glorious feeling of accomplishment when you make it to the top. It is heavily trafficked so you get to say hi to many people.

Did this yesterday afternoon before after work crowd. A good hike.

fun little trail. there were a lot of briars so we turned because of a poor choice of clothing. I would recommend pants if you don't want your legs scratched up.

https://youtu.be/IGD8MHcWyfE Check out the Video to see some great views of the Hike. Easy great for kids, and dogs. Just be mindful of the Mountain Bikers that dont care about us Hikers thats the only downfall of this hike. Other then that beautiful views, shaded, a beautiful creek and streams, great for photography, tons of wildlife!

Not too steep, we started around 6pm and we're able to make it up and down before sunset. Very beautiful during the evening and not too hot.
