The trail head isn't marked so you have to walk up the old unused road to find it. We probably went up about a mile and then turned around. The income is relatively syrup steep but certainly manageable. Since you climb so quickly you can look back and get some unique views of the canyon after short order. The creek was dry when we went, but I'd imagine in spring you'd have to cross water to go up the trail.

Trail ends after a mile. Nuff Said

Monday, August 22, 2016

the tail looks promising for the first mile..... then the tail disappears... it has been overgrown and there is no visible trail. we had to use a hand saw to cut branches out of the "path".

Came up with my son and did the first mile of this canyon. I've went further up before, but I think I followed a trail that continued north instead of heading west up the old Skyline Trail. Even the trail was quite overgrown, we never lost it. It was a nice shady hike that was not too difficult for the family - and best thing about it is that it's deserted. No noisy groups, no beer cans, just a pleasant stroll through nature.
