On Dec. 23, 2017, we went up about 6 miles (entered from the West at Rte. 275)... enough to see a closer view of the Bears Ears Buttes.... it was passable in our Volvo xc70 station wagon.. no issues. A few patches of snow on that day, small ice patches. We went up on Dec. 23. As I am not from the area, I always suggest for you to ask around for the road condition before going up..... The road was quite dry, and any mud that was there had been hardened due to snow cover. If it's muddy, it'd be hard to impassable in areas, I'd imagine. Keep in mind that cell service is spotty to non-existent in this area.

We may have just come the wrong time of the year (late August) but were discussing how when the flowers were in bloom or the fall colors changing it would be beautiful. I felt like we were driving on easy to drive road that right now were surrounded by very dry landscape.

Great ride though I only went about 10 miles up the road. Lots off side trails, camping, hiking, and more. Its a gravel road that leads up into one of the National Forests.

Take the family camping, horse back riding, hiking, mountain biking, four wheeling, or even on a sunday drive with the windows open and the roof down or off. smells are great and sights are fantastic.

Been up here many times - we camp either in mount pleasant or ephraim at least twice a year. beautiful country and access to many groomed roads and canyons on both sides.

Rode this trail on a motorcycle many years ago from the end of the road in the Needles District of Canyonlands through Bear Ears pass to UT95 highway. Sometimes the road is impassable because its steep and rocky in places. But not much of a problem on motorcycles

Geyser Pass is accesed via the La Sal Loop Road, about 12 miles from Moab. We have Jeeped the pass either as a stop when we climbed Mt Mellenthin, or when Jeeping a loop onto Dark Canyon Trail to La Sal Pass Trail back to town. The trip to Geyser Pass is easy, except once it was still blocked by snow in early June on one of our many trips to Moab.
