One of the BEST hikes in Utah. Scenery is phenomenal in any direction you look.

Great views, a waterfall and a beautiful lake.

Hikes and camped this past weekend. It was definitely a workout but was worth it when we reached the lake. Camped on top of the waterfall and was so beautiful to wake up to.

I like backpacking

Gate was open to the trail today, still muddy and wet, but great non the less.

Just called the ranger station as well, was reported it would be closed until the 25th of May.

I called the Pleasant Grove Forest Ranger District and found out 008/Silver Lake Road is not open yet. I was advised to call around the 15th and they would have more info. Their number is 801-785-3563.

Does anyone know if the road is open yet?

Get ready to climb, this is a trail for those who hunger after ascending elevation.

Very exposed for a lot of the trail so bring protection and water. Jacob's Ladder is located in a protected watershed area so you'll need to leave the dog home for this one.

The views are absolutely stunning and well worth the effort required.

Runners and hikers should be aware of mountain bikers coming from the south, they like to full on send it down the descent.

By far one of my favorite hikes. The lake is beautiful!

Tried to hike this on Saturday but the road that takes you the last 5.5 miles is still closed. Everyone had to turn around at the gate. Will try again in a month and update.

This trail becomes a dadgum bushwhack after 2 miles.

The trail was really pretty and easy, however when we went down, there were approximately 700 Boy Scouts coming up on a Friday night, as well as some other groups, and there aren’t really a ton of camp spots. So I recommend it for a day hike, but if you camp there, you may be sharing it with a lot of the Boy Scouts in Utah county. When I have more time I want to head up to silver glance lake above.

10/10, very muddy but the veiws (and fresh air) are totally worth it

Tough hike but great view of both valleys.

Great fun trail. A must do with a group. When we got there, the road was closed, so that added another mile to the hike. The hike was very muddy, but very fun. Make sure you use the app to know where you are. There are diverging trails and we got lost and had to backtrack on one of them. The view is amazing. Hardly anyone was on the trail besides us.

Veri nice hike with beautiful views and nice trails. It took us about 2 hours from the trailhead to the Lake at the top but we were stoping very often to take photos. We even encounter a Moose grazing about 50 yards from the trail. It only gets steep about the last mile before you get to the lake but other than that I rate the trail as moderate.

Beautiful hike - not terribly difficult. Very scenic view at the top. I would love to come back here during the summer.

Hiked up in the dark. Woke up to gorgeous views of the lake

Great trail! We went around 10:30 and got lucky enough to see 3 moose and it happened to snow while we were hiking. The lake is gorgeous. Good day hike! We did it slow to enjoy everything and made it out by 1:00

It felt difficult at times but it’s probably just me cause I saw kids as young as 3. The lake is nice but the best view is really the valley half way up. The aspen trees are absolutely stunning. Early October I was wearing a T-shirt. Several places I went on the wrong path but didn’t took me long to found out. There are two paths at the trail head take the one on the left.

Trail was alright, quite rocky and somewhat steep, but the lake and view at the top were 100% worth all of it. The temps were about in the high 30's so a hot meal at the top was incredible. Awesome experience, will definitely go again.

Watch out for Moose! Beautiful hike and almost literally ran into 3 Moose. Be sure to give them tons of room to not provoke them. Incredible hike and views.

I enjoyed the hike. I actually did a circle. So far, none of these AllTrails hike show it this way. Started near the Granite Flats campground entrance. Hiked on Trail 43 to Trail 188. About a mile or so, there is an unmarked trail to the Box Elder Peak Summit. I have a GPX to share, if needed. Then hiked back to trail 188 and turned right. Followed that to Trail 44 back to the Granite Flats campground. Most of Trail 188 beyond the Box Elder Peak turnoff is very much overgrown, but not hard to stay on the trail. I loved it, because I was alone most of the day. Here is a Strava Link, if it helps. https://www.strava.com/activities/1168712457

Water is essential, everyone.

hiked this for a couple miles this morning. fall colors are definitely coming out. love how quiet this trail is and the gorgeous views. we also saw a deer on the hike today.

The trail starts with a gradual incline and gets steeper the higher you get. It's pretty rocky throughout. Since I just moved from Arizona and I'm not used to the high elevation, this hike was a bit more challenging for me. There were a few shaded spots to stop and rest though. The lake at the top was well worth the climb. Definitely a beautiful sight to take in.

Beautiful hike. Steep and Rocky incline. Seemed longer than 4.5 miles. Excellent lake at the top of the hike. Plan 2 hours up unless you hike consistently. Would like to camp out at the lake next time. Bring lunch and consider swimming in the lake even though the water is cold. Will do again.
