Off Road DrivingRocky

Gorgeous trail especially with leaves changing. Lots of people hiking the trail so you have to go slow so they can move while you pass. Would not recommend on a side by side. There is absolutely no where to pass and nobody wants to go down or up backwards. At the top there is only room for a few 4 wheelers or the rouge side by side. We found this out the bad way and had to do a 6 point turn on a cliff. Not recommend for side by sides. Take my word for it.

Off Road DrivingGreat!

I can’t believe this is not Hawaii! Incredible. Steep road up for about a mile. And then getting down to the falls is extremely challenging and I wouldn’t recommend bringing small children. But this place is worth it.

HikingGreat!

Let me clear things up with the road up to the trailhead. There are a lot of conflicting reviews. I believe this is due to the confusion of the first 3/4 of the actual trail being an ATV/UTV Road, and people think that’s the road they are supposed to drive their cars up. We were able to drive our 30’ C Class RV up to the trailhead. Keep in mind; this was early September with no rain or snow. I can’t comment on those conditions. Once you get up to the trailhead, go over the bridge and park. There’s plenty of room to turn a large vehicle around. The trail itself is alright. Like others have said, it’s mostly an ATV/UTV trail, so it’s super rough and unpleasant at times. Toward the top, the ATV/UTV trail ends and turns to hiking trail. From there it’s a short scramble to the waterfall.

As of August 26th the second gate is open and you can park at the trailhead which is just a road with a gate across it. There is no marker that you are at the trail but if you hike up the gated off road you are going in the right direction. This was such a great hike with not too much elevation gain and great views.

This trail goes straight up the mountain. no switchbacks, no nothing. A few very short flat spots make for quite the relief about 1/3 of the way up. Trailhead easily missed, no official sign or places to park. I just parked on the side. Unreal 360 view at the top, could see Wheeler Peak of the Great Basin National Park some 150 miles away. Check forecasts and start very early if there’s any chance of afternoon clouds and wind, because that usually means thunder, possible hail and very strong winds at the top of these high peaks.

Park by the small bridge and the trail starts to the right of the bridge. (If you go up a hit further up to miners park there is a cool area with a small loop of educational signs and old mining equipment.) The trail was mostly in the sun so bring plenty of water and it is a steady incline. The elevation made use need to take a few more breaks than usual. Plus we had our 4 year old along. She did great until the very end when the ATV trail ends are the real hiking trail begins. The hiking trail is not well marked so we got a little turned around getting back to the ATV trail but we managed. There is a rope to help you get (slide) down to the grotto of the waterfall. I had to carry our dog down then go back and carry down our 4 year old. Not terrible but just steep so use your judgement if just viewing the waterfall without going down the rope is enough for you. Going back downhill only took about 25 minutes. Definitely felt longer than 2 miles roundtrip but totally worth it. We only saw one other pair of hikers on the trail (Tuesday afternoon) and one group of ATV riders who drove up the ATV trail to the hiking trail which shortens at least 3/4 of the hike. The ATV trail only allows vehicle 60 inches wide (no truck, etc)

Short and sweet, and it doesn't get challenging until almost the end. The trail actually starts to the right of the bridge, not actually in Miner's Park. The road forks just before the bridge- the right fork is the trail up to the falls, and the left fork goes to Miner's Park.

Very tough! The thin air makes this hike much harder than its elevation gain and length indicate. I would definitely rate this hike as hard, not moderate. Regardless, the views are worth the effort.

Awesome hike! The trail is a little hard to follow in spots, but this is not a huge issue because the mountain is covered in short grass that can be easily walked through.

Incredible trail. No signage except the trail number so I included it. There is a very small pullout at the sign and another in front of Poison Creek about .2 up the road on the left. The mountain goats were amazing. Beaver has a great mural of them off of Main Street going south. Trail number sign#224 Google maps will take you correctly. Beaver canyon to Big Jack Flats then watch for the sign.

You can park right at the trail head. The trail isn’t easy to see but there is only one way to the top. Short but fairly steep. Great views at the top.

Whoever wrote "somewhat of a stroll" is a filthy liar. This will whoop you, you gain some 1600 ft. of elevation in 1.5 miles. Still worth it. Also, signs at the campgrounds say that this is bear country so be smart if you find yourself doing this at sunset, or in the dark.
