This landscape was eroded into canyons, buttes, and mesas by the Colorado River, Green River, and their tributaries. The park is divided into four districts by the rivers. There are rock pinnacles and other naturally sculpted rock, as well as artifacts from Ancient Pueblo Peoples.

Nice short hike worth the couple minutes. Nice views made me really want to drive the road you can see from it, something for next time.

Easy decent views. Nothing overly exciting or unique.

Nice hike. I'm not into geology but was a an interesting view of a multi colored hill rising from the bottom of a crater. Not too busy and a really nice place to eat your lunch.

Short and sweet. Seemed like the busiest trail we did in canyonlands. Was one of the more windy places, probably how the arch was formed huh? :P

Nice easy hike with great views. Seems like a must if you are visiting canyonlands.

Started and ended in the dark! Incredible! Nice starry night and crescent moon! We downloaded the trail map in town before getting on the trail which was helpful.

Amazing views. Well worth the small scrambles to get there. Best hike so far in Canyonlands!

Loved this trail! Beautiful views & a fun, challenging climb in parts.

This place is old earth magic. Without a doubt, the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. The last couple miles of road getting to the trailhead are dirt and would be very difficult to pass if wet. Trail is well marked. When I lost my way, I was easily able to get back on track. Very secluded, only saw 2 other hikers the whole day. Just absolutely beautiful

Just amazing

The fact that this view is so beautiful really took me by surprise! Get there early to miss the crowds!

The trail itself is strenuous in places but completely worth the effort! Make sure you check out the granary and when you head to the Aztec ruins make sure to find the lookout points where you can stand up! They’re on the northwest side of the top of the butte, and are the highlight of the trail!

This was my favorite trail in “island in the sky” section of canyonlands NP. It was a long beautiful stroll through flat grasslands, and then it opens into an otherworldly area of strange rock formations with wavey smooth sandstone and huge jutting rocks. Beautiful views... a few sections that seemed like petrified footprints.

NOTE: The ruins where you can stand up underneath the rocky overhang are at the top of the butte, on the north western side. They're not well demarcated but definitely worth seeing! This was my favorite part of the hike.
The granary is interesting but deceiving in the photos, it's only a few feet tall underneath the overhang. This hike is moderately strenuous as you hike up to the butte but the view from the top is lovely.

If your looking for something really challenging I would look elsewhere. The only fun part was the rim ridge and a few spots down in the canyon. I only did 7.3 miles of the hogs but it was still interesting views.

Went on 1/22 for sunrise. Arrived the Arch at around 7 am, only us and another photographer at the spot. The trail was easy, even under low light and without microspike. The sunrise here was obsoletely gorgeous; I may even day that was one of the most beautiful sunrises that I’ve seen. When the sun came up, the Arch turned from the blue of early morning to to warm orange; the edges of mountains far way at the horizon were colored gold by the up-rise sun. It was breathtaking.

Awesome views of a huge area and the hike is pretty easy and short

Amazing run in this crater canyon Feeling being in another world. There is one portion where you have to climb so just take your time to pass through nothing very difficult.

Okay, it is windy. But it is an easy trail with views for days. Really amazing - esp. at sunset!

Not great in winter - snow and ice makes it hard (and dangerous) to climb up and down the rock. Otherwise, amazing views! Short scramble up.

This place/hike is amazing. I actually did this back in 2015. I had to follow a blog post someone had posted on the directions to the false kiva but that made it more fun. It was like a scavenger hunt! There are some loose rocks on the trail so be careful and wear proper footwear. But the views are stunning and the whole hike was so awesome. My husband was so happy that I took him there. What an amazing experience.

We went in January - lots of snow and ice. Found it a bit boring. Scenery in the park is epic but for 4 miles of this hike you are stuck down in a canyon. Two highlights were seeing a herd of deer and seeing a frozen waterfall. Otherwise, it was just drudging in snow. And one part was a hilariously icy scamper up rock cliff. Wouldn’t want to do that twice!

This is a great little hike to an iconic arch in the Canyonlands experience. Parking is convenient but during the middle of the day the arch will be receiving many visitors as it is quite a tourist attraction. And if you're adventurous enough to rise early and catch the classic sunrise through the arch, you'll have plenty of photographers to keep you company. Happy hiking!

This was a fun hike, and perfect place to stop and lunch. Had a lot of fun hopping from rock to rock, until we landed on the "whale" . You can get a decent view of Upheaval Dome.

Beautiful at sunset

Beautiful view at the end, well marked trail.

Terrific hike on a mid December day. We walked out to the edge of the plato and down the canyon. There are a bunch of old Uranium minds down near the bottom. Such a cool and interesting walk. I can't imagine doing this hike in the summer. There is no shade and no water.
