Everything was awesome except the bugs.

Great hike. Great views. Bugs were bad.

Aside from the annoying bugs, this hike offers stunning 360 views of the area. You will think you were in the rolling hills of Ireland. Totally worth the effort.

Hiked this last week. It was a really fun and very pretty hike! Only downside is the amount of bugs at the beginning of the trail. Bring bug spray for sure!

I’d love to go back when there aren’t so many bugs. The trails and views were great!

Beautiful. Bring bug spray. It’s essential.

Brought my pup up at around 9am - perfect time. Only saw two other people. Hike up just sucks but it’s so worth it.

Easy easy!! Great for kids with a nice view at the end. Go before all the gnats come out!

No a bad trail. Bugs are getting pretty bad from the upper parking lot to the first saddle.

I hiked this trail with my husband and our friend Erin on April 15.

This trail is moderately steep, but very short, so it didn't take long to reach the top. The views at the top were beautiful.... the reddish-orange boulders were fun to climb on and allowed us to get a better view of the lake.

We spent at least as much time exploring the top area as we did hiking to get there. Great views of the lake and mountains. Only drawbacks were that the sun didn't come out for us, and it was a bit crowded.

I completed this hike with my husband and our friend Erin on April 15.

This was a fun, beautiful hike. It was moderately steep much of the way, but since the trail was short, it wasn't too draining. For the second half of the hike, you can see both sides of the salt lake, which is nice. There are also grassy, rocky, little knolls that you can explore. Parts of it looked like scenes from The Lord of the Rings!

We wish the sun would've peeped out on us, but overall still a pleasant hike and a fun time!

Short, easy hike with great views at the top!

First mountain bike ride, it was beautiful. The ascent was a bit challenging heading left/east after the first fork but once you get to the top, the rest of the ride is absolutely worth the climb. Loved it and will be back.

This is straight up. No shade.

Loved this awesome trail! It was a great time of year to visit too! No snow, the infamous gnats weren't yet swarming, and the temperature was perfect for hiking! My 3 and 5 year olds managed with relative ease, though we hike often, and the almost 2 year old got out of the carrier for a few stretches of the hike!

Went in late March-no bug issues. Little to no shade on trail. Leisurely walking and stopping to enjoy the views-approx 3.5 hour hike. Beautiful views throughout entire trail!

All but the last 1.4 miles are a dirt road, otherwise it would get 5 stars. Nice hike that is a bit less traveled especially that last 1.4 miles. The signage for the trail system is really good too!

My first time ever hiking the island. This trail has me addicted. It was breathtaking!

Hiked this 3/20/18 with a friend. The trail is easy to follow and is fairly wide in places. Keep an eye out for all the awesome wildlife. We saw several buffalo, a herd of deer, and some great birds enjoying the March air up near some of the peaks. Take the Bone Road Trail to the trail head and then choose to go either on the South end or North end of the trail. We took the north end first. This is the more rocky part of the trail, but really awesome scenery. The south end of the trail is fairly flat with a long, steep climb up to the trailhead again. We measured the hike at just over 12 miles and it took us about 6 hours to do. If you're into Geocaching, there's several caches along the way that we found. Really good trail!

This hike is actually just an optional side trail off the white rock loop trail. My husband and I walked it on March 10 as part of the longer trail. The sign from the White Rock Loop says that the Beacon is another .4 miles up a dirt trail, but it didn't even seem that long.

As we climbed, we could see one lonesome, chill bison hanging out on the top of the hill near the beacon. It was neat to explore these structures for a few minutes, and the view was spectacular from the top! You can see basically the entire Wasatch Front. There was even a little picnic table where we set our packs down and took a break for a minute.

As part of the White Rock Loop trail, this makes a great little addition!

My husband and I hiked this trail on Saturday March 10. It was a sunny 50 degrees... we regretted not bringing sunscreen!

On the day we went, there was actually a race event going on, so for the first 15 minutes, we were cheering on runners as we passed them on the trail.

The initial ascent was moderate, but not too grueling, and the rest of the way was more level. We saw one herd of about 100 bison.... very cool to see. The views of the lake and the Wasatch Front were beautiful. We took the optional short side route to the beacon. Pretty neat to see, and good view up there. The backside of the trail was more tedious, with fewer spectacular views.

Trail has no shade, so be prepared! Overall a nice, unique hike!

Excellent ride today. 37 degrees. Sunny. Varying conditions. Snow, sand, mud, gravel. Many bison around. More than I've seen in 20 yrs of riding here.

This is a fun trail. The distance mentioned as 1.3 seems misleading. From the parking lot to the end of the trail for me was only .4 or .5 one way, so both ways may be a mile or less. But, I kept going after the trail end, down the rocky hill over to the second rocky hill and then took a loop back to the parking lot. Finding the trail until the top of the first hill was easy, but then as there are only boulders going down the hill and it seems not many people go down the trail here, it's like the trail disappears. Even without the app or gpx map, it's easy to find your way down without getting lost if you know the general direction of landmarks in the park as there are no trees you can see far in almost all directions. But as there are no trees, keep in mind the sun can get intense if it's out. Also, winter is an ideal time to come to miss the onslaught of bugs! My thought was to walk from rock mound 1 to rock mound 2, then take the trail toward the campground then the second right trail that led back to the main road, but the second right turn trail that shows on the alltrail app did not seem to be there... I did not want to make my own trail, so I went back to the first trail. This trail was not also accurate as compared to the all trails app, but that was ok. I got to see a small herd of antelope on the way back.

I think this was a fun trail for climbing through rocks and boulders. Lots of fun rocks to look at. I spent a lot of time just doing that. Also, as I went on Presidents Day weekend, I could see families love this trail as kids really enjoy climbing up and on the rocks.

Great view...

Great hike with awesome views. This was a good alternative to Frary Peak.

Fun little hike with 4 kids ages 10 to 17. Scenic views of the great Salt Lake. Saw plenty of bison. No bugs in February! Took about 1 hour and 45 minutes round trip.

We actually hiked out and around buffalo point from the White Rock Bay campground parking lot to the Bridger Bay campground and then up the side of the mountain where we came up on buffalo point from the West and then down to the buffalo point parking lot. awesome hike with incredible scenery! The rocks at the top of buffalo point are awesome to climb on too.
