HikingGreat!

Wonderful trail with expansive views of salt lake. Quite exposed so bring plenty of water. It is 7 miles, but once you reach the 3rd mile it gets rocky/narrow.

Pretty easy hike but all of it is uphill so keep that in mind. The views were pretty at the top and it was fun climbing on the rocks

Hiked on 9/14 and had the trail to ourselves. Easy trail but you'll need a lot of water since it's hot, dry, salty. I'd also recommend to hike in the clockwise direction. On the last mile we saw a coyote and military planes on a drill

Clearly marked trail; distance says 6miles but we clocked it at 5.7mi. Not too strenuous; easy ascent and nice views of the Great Salt Lake. A bit hazy. Bring some water!

I would definitely say the trail is easy, not moderate. We had to add a bit of distance to move around some bison on the trail.

This trail is one of my favorites. Despite it being listed as hard I actually find it to be very easy. It is uphill a majority of the way, but I don't think you'll find a peak trail on the wasatch front that isn't the same. And for only being 7 miles out and back it is a lot shorter than most peaks you'll find on the wasatch front. As most past hikers have noted there can be some circumstances that make this hike awful. But there are some things you can do to mitigate the annoyances. Time of Year: This hike is best enjoyed near the beginning of spring and early fall. This hike has very little shade so during the peak summer months it can be hellish to get to the top in 80-100 degree weather beating down on you. The bugs are also at their most annoying and abundant when you go during the summer. The flies and gnats were non-existent when I went. Time of Day: I enjoy this hike the most when I camp overnight on the island and hit the trailhead early (5-7am). Not only does this reduce a lot of traffic on the trail, but your chances of seeing wildlife go up. Also, seeing as how around the 1.5 mile mark you start making your way around the west side of the ridge, you don't have to deal with the sun nearly at all if you go early enough. It started getting hot around 9am but by that time I had made it to the peak and started heading down anyway. While it may not be as breathtaking as some other hikes in Utah, this one has a spectacular view of the Great Salt Lake. With prior planning and preparation this can be an easy and rewarding hike.

I don't know if this trail is vastly different in the height of summer or maybe she wrote a review of the wrong trail by mistake, but I didn't see any of the negative things reported by Michelle J below. Sept 9, about 65 degrees, trail was just lovely in the evening. Also saw several bison. Recommend doing this trail clockwise, especially if starting at Bridger Bay Campground.

September 6, 2020 More annoying than difficult. It’s steep in parts, but we’re used to steep coming from Colorado. (And much higher altitude at that.) What we’re not used to are the flies. Oh my god, the FLIES!!! We were covered in deet, but it’s not like the flies bite, they just land on you and crawl all over you. Super obnoxious. Also, zero shade anywhere on the trail, blazing hot sun. The views sucked because of wild fires, maybe they’re normally ok. Anyway, it’s not worth it. Beautiful and buggy. Caught the sunset and the full moon Wednesday night. Constant incline, one bison on the trail - about 50 yards away. He kept his distance, as did I.
