Just finished finished walking trail from the Lime Kiln Rd entrance, very nice trail, as I got back to my vehicle, a gentleman told me about a mountain lion sighting earlier today, so much for biking it today.

Good trail, very happy with it. We will hopefully go again all the way around.

This is such a great hiking trail. It’s a little too rocky to call an ‘easy’ trail but my three year had a blast walking most of the way. There were probably 5 times that it got decently steep but it only lasts a couple minutes at a time. Definitely not suitable for strollers or inexperienced mountain bikers. There is plenty of shade and benches to stop and rest at. Off the blue heron trail near the bond, there is a restroom stop. People were nice, bikers were considerate and all the dogs we met were on leash.

It’s The middle of October and the springs are running again. It’s beautiful!

great incline and decline! wonderful trail.

Beautiful trails w a wide variety of plant life. . Mild elevation. My favorite place to hike between Austin & San Marcos

This was a nice hike with some beautiful views. There were several small streams that were dry but will be very pretty when they’re running after some rains. This trail seems to be a favorite for people riding bicycles because we saw several, all were courteous and we shared the trails easily. All-in-all, a great way to start or end the day.

A great place to sit and be in tune with the rest of nature. Sunrise Lookout has a great view of rolling hills and wooded ridges that is best experienced with the sunrise, as expected. If you’re in San Marcos, it really is a great place in town to get away

Nice hike. This trail had a little bit of something for everyone. On the way out the trail was fairly primitive with nice switch backs and continuous elevation gain. On the way in it was like a nice wide downhill golf cart path. We lost count of deer, they were everywhere. It’s tricky to find the trail head. We parked in the first parking lot and there’s no indication of how to get to the trail. By trial (trail) and error and using our Alltrails app we figured out that you actually walk through the maintenance area. All in all it’s a nice hike once you find it.

A great hike with beautiful views. Take the short Wickiup trail to a couple of picnic tables with spectacular views. GO!

top notch!

Half was closed off so didnt get the full experience, but of what I saw it was pretty unspectacular. Nice for a quick stroll.

Awesome trail, mostly gravel path. A couple muddy spots. Plenty of benches for breaks along path. Will be back!

Spring Lake is a large spring fed pool of crystal clear water forming the headwaters of the San Marcos River. Part of the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment on the Texas State University campus, the lake is an attraction with glass-bottom boat tours offered, as well as scuba certification and a small aquarium on site. The walk leads from the parking area (free weekends parking fee weekdays) past massive bald cypress trees on the lake shore. Live oaks, willows and sycamore trees also grow along the lake. The trail leads to a metal boardwalk over shallow marshes along the lake shore. From here you can see the resident fish and turtles in the clear waters, and its great for birdwatching. We saw cormorants, egrets, an osprey and a pair of crested caracaras. Very easy and relaxing walk great for kids.

I’ve been about five times this fall /winter. It’s so beautiful with rocky inclines and flat trails. It’s always wet from what I suspect is a full ground water system. The creek is breath taking, especially at the cascade. Very few people.

Good ride with rolling hills. Apparently I went the wrong way, starting on the east side of the park with kinda steep climbs and gradual declines. several spur options. Nice tree cover. It rained last night and is a bit muddy today but not bad. Will return.

But y B.B.

A staple of respite from the grind.
