Well maintained little park with friendly rangers. Did 13 miles worth of trails while there, but if you do one you’ve seen it all. Everything is pretty much the same. The primitive camp area was nice but the sites could’ve been spread out a little farther apart. If you’re going to drop a fishing pole don’t expect much either. If you get a clear night the stars are amazing. Overall not a bad place to have the kids run around and great for beginners but there isn’t a lot of adventure to be had.

We went for a few hours to check out the park and do a short hike. We chose the West Canyon Loop trail- 2.7 miles but roughly 3.5 including accessing the trail from closest parking.
The trail was labeled moderate and seemed fairly easy, with a few spots that were steep enough going uphill to get a person breathing hard. There were some nice views, and we saw a little wildlife including a whitetail doe that didn't seem bothered by us.
We didn't get to get in the river- which is the main attraction of this park, but maybe next time. All in all it is a nice place to spend a day and would be fun to camp there.

Lots of great trails to run and finish the day with a relaxing and somewhat-wild tubing finish.

We stopped here on our way to Corpus Christi to camp overnight. The campground was nearly full, and it was a weekday. Campsites are well maintained.

Nice place to camping and take a swim! I loved it!

Great place to stop. Deer and turkey are everywhere. The fishing is not that bad either.
