The store is located in the Visitor Center and features books, potter, jewelry, and educational items pertaining to the Canyon.

Great hike! My husband and I hiked the 6 mi. in and out in about 3.25 hours. So many hoodoos and other rock formations. Simply gorgeous everywhere you turn!!! The path was mostly dirt, easy to hike. We were able to see the lighthouse in the distance but didn’t have the time to continue onto Lighthouse Trail. We would rate this trail as EASY for hikers.

It felt like I was in the Badlands of South Dakota. Beautiful colors and the trail was easy to follow.

We have been coming to Palo Duro Canyon for 10+ years but have never done this trail for some reason. This is exactly what we were hoping for today and will definitely be back! We really liked the trail itself but we really loved finding side trails where we could climb up on rocks and sit in the sun. We didn’t go the whole way because we had our kids with us but from what we did I would definitely recommend it to others.

Great hike! It was marked every 0.1-0.2 miles. We hiked from the scenic outlook down to the amphitheater and back up, hoping to catch the sunset going up. It was a 3 mile hike and took us 1.5 hours. Pretty views! Wear shoes with some good tread!

I hiked this trail combined with the Kiowa trail to make a loop that took about 3.5 hours. This hike runs along the canyon wall about halfway up. There are lots of turns and ups and downs. It was a fun hike that was moderately difficult at times. This trail makes a great Mountain Bike trail too. I hiked in January and the weather was ideal. There is no shade. The sun was nice. I imagine this hike in summer is brutal. Take sunscreen and a lot of water.

Really great trail to take to get to the lighthouse, lighthouse is fun to explore; last bit to lighthouse on the displayed trail is wrong (it tells you to climb a rock face), the actual trail doesn't look like a trail but at least it's possible.

This is a nice long hike that is pretty easy. great views! at the wnd of this trail is a steep climb up to the lighthouse. i recommend a rest on top to recover for the long hike back. It is also fairly windy out there.

I hiked it on January 4, 2020. Oddly enough I like it better to start at the top and go down and then come back up. Due to the steepness of some of the steps they were easier to traverse going up than down. As someone commented earlier about the trail. If you start at the top and go down. Somewhere around .2 and .3 there is a fork in the trail. The trail continues down to the right and not up to the left. You will know you made the right decision when you hike further and see the marker for the .4 mile mark. If you don't see it, you are on the wrong fork. The last .4 miles of the trail to the amphitheater are a little rough and you have to step over numerous rocks. When you hike back up it climbs about 300 ft in the first 1/2 mile which is a little exhausting.

Trail was a bit muddy from recent rains. However, this was good trail to introduce my 7 year old to hiking. Easy trail for kids. Saw several hikers with dogs walking the trail.

awesome hike. we did about 6 miles and got most of the way to the top of the left lighthouse rock. would recommend!

Did on a cold January day. Nice climb out of the valley but not bad, that day was very windy. Trail on top is very ordinary, best part was the climb out of the valley.

Simple walk, best combined withe the Juniper cliffside trail to form a loop, not much further to combine.

Great trail! Awesome elevation changes and tons of views of all different areas of the canyon. The trail isn’t always the easiest to find, but it’s only a few short minutes before you’re able to jump back on it again. Would recommend!

Just a totally awesome trail. I went early in the morning on New Year's Eve (2019), and the trail was mostly frozen. Unfortunately, the trail turned into somewhat of a quagmire when it started melting - the mud here is very slick and sticky (be extra careful if it's muddy). But that's a minor complaint given how amazing the views are along the trail, especially in the early morning when the sun is emerging from behind some of the taller bluffs. This is the most popular trail at Palo Duro Canyon for a reason. Definitely check it out.

Nice and well marked trail. Views from the lighthouse are breathtaking. Would not recommend it for young kids and elderly.

An easy walk with amazing canyon views! My wife and I went with my dad while the weather was nice and cool. Would recommend carrying a lot of water if it’s hot outside! You don’t need to be an expert hiker to make it to the top, but the last half mile was a little bit of a climb. The views of the lighthouse are gorgeous and completely worth it! Definitely worth your time while you’re in the Amarillo area.

Great easy warm up trail! The cave is super cool, I would recommend going early in the morning cause it can get crowded.

Took our 3 boys on this hike, ages 4, 7 and 9. They did great! There is a bit of a scramble to get on the top of the lighthouse. We had to force our 4 year old to hold our hands. The top has beautiful views of the canyon!

The hike to the Lighthouse made our trip at Palo Duro Canyon! The trail was sandy with lots of traffic (saw a Boy Scout group). The trail map ends at a rest area with a single picnic table, but the trail climbs on. I’m assuming the park doesn’t want to take liability, in case you get hurt, but everyone (who was able to climb) trucked on. It was beautiful at the top. Me and my wife had a celebratory beer, sandwich, and aired out our feet before heading back.
