Photos of Palo Duro Canyon State Park Nature Trips Trails

Well, starting at the Mack Dick pavilion take the Comanche trail 3 miles to the trail fork and spur going west that leads to the Juniper camp ground, from Juniper hike north along the river, pass an old windmill to the GSL trail head, cross the road and continue on the Comanche trail back to the pavilion. Nice hike that roughly parallels the Red River, crossing it at several locations. Likely to see deer and wild turkeys along this route, and not too tough a hike for most.
Please note the names of the trail and camp sites are what is marked at the park now, The web site has different names listed and the park will soon be changing the trail markers to the new names.
