We loved this trail. Had to pay 15 to get into the park but there are other trails around you can hike as well.

They only allow a certain amount of people in the park at any given time. Therefore, entrance to the park can be delayed and also not guaranteed.

Called the "chain trail" because the steeper sections have posts and chains to help preserve balance. It goes about 3/4 up the mountin. I saw a half-dozen climbers up there enjoying the bouldering (?). There are "trails" up there but they are not marked very well. When I couldn't tell I stayed on rocks as much s possible.

fun trail, not leading all the way to the top, but almost. We found a way by going around the rocks and clamber up from the back side.

easy and very scenic trail. You can walk that at a leisurely pace. Lots of wildflowers after the rains and many birds.

Great place to free climb but it does cost $7 per person to get into the park and you have to watch a 15 minute video before you are allowed to walk into the park. You can only walk around a third of the park. Guided tours are available and recommended if you want to explore the entire park. It’s $2 per person for a tour and there are three available. Two miles, three miles, or four miles long. Make a reservation early in the morning or the day before.

Amazing!!! This place is definitely a must for anyone who loves hiking and history!!! ❤

Not much of an actual hiking trail but good for bouldering and rock climbing. Ensure you call to make reservations since they limit the amount of people allowed in the park. Recommend in the cooler months.

Great park and good hiking. Be aware the loop is closed on the back end as the park has been halved into self guided and guided only sections. This is to help protect the fragile environment as well as the much of the rock art. Several of the rock art sites are in the self guided areas and are well worth the hikes and in some cases climbs.

Came down from new Mexico to do the hike only to find out that the park has limited access and it's best to have a reservation. We could have entered the waiting line of cars, but there was no telling how long the wait would be. We got here at 10:30. The description should say this up front.

Visited for the first time yesterday with my boys. Such a fun park to explore! Rangers and volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly and the scenery and rock formations are beautiful. Going back next weekend for the guided cave tour!

Not a difficult trail, the views are beautiful. We went there one Saturday, they had one little festival and they formed groups with a guide who explained the different areas. It is ideal to visit it with the family. We did two trails, one to the left of the visit center by Chain Trail (2.2 ml) and another to the right near the road around the mountain (2.0 ml). When is not open for the public, you have to call in advance and request permission to visit.

I have been going to Hueco Tanks since childhood- when you could go anywhere. Even though only a portion of the park is open to the public, there is still plenty to do or see. The day can easily be spent exploring all the various huecos & caves or just rock climbing. You get a real sense of history here & despite the amount of people, it is still pretty serene. Lots of birds & squirrels. There is plenty of smooth rock if you're inclined to sprint up to the top & excellent hand & footholds everywhere, so you can sprint to the top or test your climbing abilities. In fact, the park is pretty much solid rock in the middle of the desert. You can also plan outings w/ the rangers to see all the closed off cave art too. With the exception of a few huecos & the picnic areas, there isn't much shade so plan accordingly.

Beautiful and extremely fun. Cooler to go in the early morning so the sun is not so bad.

Really like the trail. Must get to the park early since they only allow so many people in a day in order to preserve the park.

Hiked the chain trail up to the top of the North Mountain. Beautiful scenery. There were a few places where we had to scramble a little, but nothing was very difficult. There are some fantastic spots for bouldering.
