wish I would have read the reviews. Says 4.1 miles but it is a little less than 2

Nice easy walk on gravel path mostly shaded by tree canopy. Climb the observatory towers for good views of the pond otherwise, the grasses are too high to see the water.

This mostly gravel trail in South Houston is fantastic for a quick 2-mile run or walk because much of it is shaded (very important in this Texas heat)! The little views of the lake, in-between the trees and from the lookout tower, keep the loop interesting. There is also a portion that isn't paved/gravel but more of a low wooden dock that runs over the marsh. So even though it's only about 2 miles around, there is much variety. This trail is located in a park so be mindful of park hours (especially since sometimes security likes to close the park before closing hours)! The rest of the park has soccer fields, pavilions, and playgrounds (7 playscapes that surround a small hill, which is helpful for parents to keep an eye on all 7 playscapes). There are bathrooms inside a building as well as portapotties scattered around the park (as well as at least 2 on the trail... one located at the parking area at one starting point as well as one located about halfway around, which is also another parking area where you can start the trail).
