This was a very easy walk, but beautiful! It was worth the walk! Perfect for kids of all ages.

This was my first time to this park. The hike was full of beautiful views, from small waterfalls, to gorgeous views overlooking the stream below. it was well worth the 2.5 hour drive.

Great hike with plenty of variety in scenery. It was early February so fairly cool weather. There is quite a bit of shade.

The River Trail is an easy traipse along the river. Uneventful but the river is a nice companion.

So, we started on the Spicewood Canyon Trail, and wound around back on the Spicewood Springs Trail. The Canyon trail had great views, with some good inclines. Once we swung back on the Springs trail, we were in for a treat. Glad I had my trekking stick to help with the balancing on rocks while crossing river trails, the many awesome river trails. Great time. Definitely a moderate rating for this hike.

The trail was slightly rocky, but an easy hike/trail run for myself and my miniature Schnauzer. If you bring your dog, there are stickers and needles on the trail, so I’d only recommend bringing short haired breeds. There was nothing of note to see on the trail, but it does connect to old Gorman trail if you’d like to get to the falls. There is a bench about mid way through to stop for a rest if you so need. No restrooms at this trail. No hydration stations. The summers can get extremely hot so bring 1 liter of water per person per hour you will be out. You may encounter wildlife, trail info warns of big cats and I heard wild boar. It was a decent however uneventful trail experience.

My favorite trail in the Park.

Good trail, especially lower portion. Took lemons Ridge to add distance, but that was pretty boring so don’t recommend it. Be aware that right now they’re doing controlled burns in the park so several other trails (including Gorman Falls) are closed. Will definitely do it again!

Nice day hike. Bring some water with you. The river is a nice touch to the hike. Gives you a bit more scenery. You can also go for a walk in it in some spots where it is really low.

Easy trail. Not bad for an afternoon hike

It's a fairly long trail along the river. We took it from our campsite to the falls and back. Not much elevation until you get to the falls. Saw some armadillos too. Bring good shoes for moist environments, otherwise risk blisters!

Lemons Ridge/River/Dogleg Canyon/Cedar Chopper Trails

Not a bad loop. Pretty uneventful and not too interesting. It would have been a lot more fun on a bike. Dogleg Canyon did have some decent views. (And also a lot of trash on trail. I filled my backpack with it!)

Nice trail no need for hiking boots. You can actually swim in the upper spring pool. Just beautiful and the water is very clear. A must see!!!

Low value if you are only doing the loop on foot (if that was the only thing you could do here I would have rated it lower). It is a decent 'warm up' lap for mountain bike riders as well as a central hub connecting to other trails.

This review is for the actual Spicewood Springs trail in Colorado Bend State Park. It was well worth coming back to the park to do this (these) trails. I would recommend starting at the Spicewood Canyon point and take that all the way to the end. Then loop back using the Spicewood Springs route. You will cross the water a few times and if the water is high...you might get your feet wet. Bring a spare pair of socks...maybe even a second pair of shoes. There is also an area to swim at the turn around point. Wish I brought some shorts and a towel.

Very hot if you go during the summer, the spring pool is amazing. I'm looking forward to going after it cools down so I can explore more.

Very fun trails. Started off at the main lot and walked along the river all the way to Gorman Falls. Gorman Falls are some of the coolest things I've ever seen. Walking back, we took the hill top trails, very nice scenery also. Spent about 6-8 hours at the park.

All trails are well marked. Dog friendly park with so many great views and swimming. We enjoyed swimming in the springs and could have spent the whole day just doing that! This park also allows for multi day backpacking trips easily a 2 day trip minimum!

Great area in Texas! Hikes several of the offshoot trails as well as Gorman Falls. Moderate trails throughout. Start early and beat the Texas heat. Great trail for Spring and Fall. Summer is not the best time to go!

backpacking

After a day hike to Gorman Falls and out into the primitive area for overnight camping, we enjoyed the trail along the river to find our next primitive camping spot. This was so much easier and the view quite different. A hike in the other direction along the river leads to a spring pool. Very refreshing on a hot day!
